What it does
- The U200 Lite talks Matter over Thread: the M100 hub works as a Thread border router and connects it to the internet.
- From the app you lock, unlock and check the state of the lock even when you are out.
- At the door the lock opens with the methods the manufacturer provides for the Lite version, and with the mechanical key.
- With Matter the lock appears in Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home and fits into their automations.
- The log in the app shows when the door was opened and closed.
- You can add door sensors, motion sensors and other Aqara devices to the M100 hub later on.

How it is installed
Hub and network. Plug the M100 hub into one of the kit's USB power supplies and into a permanently live socket near the front door, with good Wi-Fi coverage. It is the hub that creates the Thread network for the lock and puts it online. Add it to the Aqara Home app first, or to a Matter platform if you prefer.
U200 Lite lock. Measure the door thickness and how far the cylinder protrudes and compare both with the manufacturer's figures. Take the cylinder out, fit the parts of the lock as the instructions say and check that the mechanical key turns freely. This is the fiddliest stage: work with the door open and do not force anything.
Power supply. The lock runs on batteries, as the manufacturer specifies. The M100 hub comes without a power supply: that is why the kit includes three 5V 2A USB power supplies, one for the hub and two spare for other USB devices. Use a socket that is not switched.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app add the U200 Lite to the M100 hub with the setup wizard. Set up the unlocking methods you want and give the lock a name. If you use Apple Home, Alexa or Google Home, add it there too with the Matter code. Try locking and unlocking from the app while off the home Wi-Fi.
Recommended automations. Set the lock to close a few minutes after it opens, and a notification every time the door is opened while you are out. With Matter you can build a “Good night” scene in Apple Home, Alexa or Google that locks the door along with the lights. Check the battery charge in the app from time to time.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
For remote access, yes: the U200 Lite uses Matter over Thread and needs a Thread border router, which is the M100 hub included. If you already have a Thread border router, such as some HomePod or Apple TV models, the lock can use that instead.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
Yes, the U200 Lite is Matter: it adds to Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home, with the functions each platform supports for locks. The lock's own settings are made in the Aqara Home app.
How does it differ from the U200?
The U200 Lite is the cheapest model in the U200 family. The ways of unlocking available at the door are the ones the manufacturer states on the product's Amazon listing: compare them with the U200's before you choose. If you need a fingerprint reader and NFC cards, get in touch and we will propose the kit with the U200.
Will the lock work on my door?
The kit's Aqara locks fit doors with a euro cylinder, within the thickness and protrusion the manufacturer gives. Before buying, measure the door and check the type of cylinder; if in doubt send us a photo through the contact page and we will check compatibility.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The lock runs on batteries and goes onto the door with ordinary tools, with no electrical work; the hub plugs into an ordinary socket. The level is advanced DIY because the cylinder has to be taken out and refitted carefully, following the manufacturer's instructions.
What happens if there is no internet?
The lock still opens at the door with the local methods and with the mechanical key, and Matter automations on the local network can stay active. Without internet, though, you cannot unlock remotely and you get no notifications.
Are batteries included?
The lock runs on batteries: the type, the life and whether they are in the box are those the manufacturer gives on the product's Amazon listing. The Aqara Home app shows the charge level and warns in good time; with a flat battery the mechanical key is always there.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
