Six Citel devices for surge protection: on AC, the DS134RS-230/G type 1+2 four-pole, the DS440S-230/G type 2 four-pole and the DS42S-230 type 2 two-pole; on DC, the DS50PVS-1000G/12KT1 type 1+2 and the DS50PVS-1000G/51 type 2; plus the CiPlug1-51-1 PV string junction box with a type 2 arrester already inside.

Type 1+2 and type 2 are not the same job. A type 1+2 goes at the entry point, where part of a direct strike current can be discharged, while type 2 units protect the circuits behind it. On a PV installation both ends usually need covering: array side and board side.

The CiPlug1 saves work on the string side by combining box and arrester in one enclosure.
