What it does
- Eight temperature and relative humidity sensors, one per room or store, send a reading every 10 minutes to the gateway connected to the institution's network. Accuracy ±0.3 °C and ±3% relative humidity.
- For each space the conservation thresholds indicated by the conservator or required by the lender are set: when they are exceeded the notification arrives, during the day and with the museum closed.
- The history shows the daily and seasonal trend, the swings when the doors open to the public and the effect of air conditioning and dehumidifiers: this is the material for the periodic reports to conservators and restorers and for the documentation required for loans.
- The two light sensors measure the illuminance in lux at the point where the artwork is; from the continuous recording the cumulative exposure in lux hours is obtained.
- The magnetic contacts report the opening of display cases and showcases with an immediate notification and record every intervention.
- The leak detectors, placed on the floor in the stores, warn at the first presence of water and sound on the spot.
- Data, charts and notifications can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC.

How it is installed
Gateway. Compact indoor gateway, on a desk, on the wall or on the ceiling, in a dry room and in a central position with respect to the rooms: an office, the ticket desk, a corridor on an intermediate floor. IP30, operation from -20 to +50 °C. Powered by USB-C at 5 V, or by PoE with an optional splitter; connection to the network with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. It is fixed with two wall plugs or simply stood on a piece of furniture.
Temperature and humidity sensors. On the wall with two screws or with double-sided tape, where drilling is not allowed. A position representative of the space: away from air vents, radiators, dehumidifiers, windows and spotlights, and not in contact with metal masses. In the rooms unobtrusive spots are chosen, for example behind a panel or on the side of a showcase; the sensor can also sit inside a showcase, because the radio signal passes through glass. Measuring range from -30 to +70 °C, IP67 protection.
Contacts on display cases and showcases. Sensor on the fixed part and magnet on the door, on the inside, with the sides marked by the notch facing each other. With the case closed the distance between the two parts must not exceed 20 mm, with an offset of less than 20 mm. They are fixed with double-sided tape on a clean and dry surface, without drilling: the adhesive reaches full hold in 24 hours. They must not be applied on iron parts or in their immediate vicinity.
Light and water leaks. The measuring element of the light sensor, connected by cable to the transmitter body, is placed next to the artwork and on the same plane, with the round window facing the light that illuminates it and never covered; the transmitter body is fixed to the wall in an unobtrusive position. Range 0-100,000 lux, accuracy ±3%. The leak detectors are placed flat on the floor, at the point the water would reach first: under the pipework, at the foot of a below-ground wall, near a drain.
Configuration. By NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: reading intervals, thresholds, names of rooms and display cases. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. A written installation guide with the criteria for choosing the measuring points, fixing without drilling, the distances of the magnetic contacts and the switch-on sequence, plus initial configuration of the thresholds based on the conservation values and the materials given when ordering.

Before you order
Is an internet connection needed in the museum?
It is needed at the point where the gateway is installed: a network socket or the institution's Wi-Fi coverage. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway by radio. If the building has no line, the version with a 4G gateway is available, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB a month). It is selected when ordering.
Do the thick walls of a historic building stop the signal?
Very thick stone masonry, vaults and basement stores attenuate the radio signal: the range inside a building depends on walls and floors, and the gateway should be placed in a central position. For buildings with very thick walls, several wings or many floors, the «large building» version is available among the options, with a gateway of greater range, IP65 and which can be powered by PoE. For separate sites one gateway per site is used.
Do you have to drill walls or display cases?
No. All the sensors are battery powered and cable free. Temperature and humidity sensors and magnetic contacts can also be fixed with double-sided tape; the leak detectors are simply placed on the floor. Screws are needed only where a mechanical fixing is preferred. On historic or decorated surfaces the choice of the spot and of the type of adhesive is up to the conservator.
Does the light sensor also measure ultraviolet?
No. It measures illuminance in lux, from 0 to 100,000 with an accuracy of ±3%, one reading every 10 minutes. The cumulative exposure in lux hours is obtained from the history. For the ultraviolet component a dedicated instrument is needed.
Do the contacts on the display cases replace the intruder alarm?
No. They report and record the openings, useful for knowing when a case was opened and for how long; they are not a certified alarm system and do not replace the existing one.
I have more rooms or more display cases
The kit is configured around the institution: sensors are added for each room, store or display case, gateway and platform stay the same. Battery life
The temperature and humidity sensors and the light sensors have a replaceable lithium battery with a stated life of up to 10 years with one reading every 10 minutes at 25 °C; for the temperature and humidity sensors, where the radio link is difficult, the life drops to about 6 years. Magnetic contacts about 5 years, leak detectors more than 5 years with a button cell. The charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from a smartphone and a PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. Where there is a building management system or collection management software, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the internet is down?
The sensors keep measuring. The light sensors store up to 1,000 readings and retransmit them when the connection returns; for the other sensors, after a long interruption, a gap without data may remain in the history. While the line is missing, notifications are not sent; the leak detectors sound on the spot anyway.
Do they withstand the damp of basement stores? Is an electrician needed?
Temperature and humidity sensors, the body of the light sensors and the leak detectors are IP67 and work permanently in a damp environment. Magnetic contacts and gateway are for dry indoor use: IP20 and IP30. No electrician is needed: the only powered device is the gateway, with a USB-C 5 V power adapter and a socket.
