What it does
- The T1 LED strip under the wall units lights the worktop, with white light tunable from warm to cool, or coloured.
- The two water leak sensors, under the sink and beside the dishwasher, send the notification as soon as they detect water.
- The smoke detector sounds the alarm on the spot and alerts you on your smartphone.
- The H2 smart plug switches the kettle or the coffee machine on and off, on a schedule or on demand, and measures what they use.
- With scenes, a smoke alarm can switch the socket off and bring the strip up to full brightness.
- A morning scene can switch on the light and the coffee machine at the time you choose.

How to install it
Hub and network. Plug the M100 hub into one of the kit's USB adapters, in a socket in the kitchen or a nearby room, clear of metal units. In the Aqara Home app you create the account, add the hub and connect it to the home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The hub runs the Zigbee devices and, as a Thread border router, the H2 plug.
LED strip and plug. The LED strip sticks under the wall units, on a clean, dry surface, towards the front edge so it lights the worktop without glare. Run the cable along the units to its power adapter in a nearby socket, away from the hob and the sink. The H2 plug goes into a wall socket above the worktop.
Sensors and power supply. The water leak sensors sit on the base of the sink unit and on the floor next to the dishwasher, where water reaches first. The smoke detector goes on the ceiling, away from the hob and the extractor hood. The kit includes three 5V USB power adapters because the hub ships without one; the other two are spares.
App and pairing. In the app select the hub, tap add device and run through the procedure for each item, close to the hub. For the H2 plug, follow the Thread procedure the app shows. Assign everything to the kitchen room, wet a leak sensor and press the detector's test button to check the notifications.
Recommended automations. Create a scene: if the detector picks up smoke, switch the plug off and take the LED strip to full brightness. Set up the notification for water leaks. Schedule the coffee machine plug for weekday mornings, with automatic switch-off after an hour. Add a soft light from the strip in the evening.
Contents verified. The T1 LED strip, the leak sensors, the smoke detector and the H2 plug are Aqara devices and are run by the M100 hub, which supports both Zigbee and Thread. The kit includes a pack of three 5V USB power supplies, because the hub is powered from a USB port and ships without one.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes, and it is included: the Aqara M100 hub runs the LED strip, the sensors and the smoke detector over Zigbee and the H2 plug over Thread. A single hub is enough for the kitchen and for other Aqara devices around the house.
Does it work with Alexa, Google or Apple?
The kit is managed from the Aqara Home app, where the automations are created. The hub brings the devices into Apple Home where Aqara supports it and, through Matter, into Alexa and Google Home as well; support varies by device type. Automations are best kept in the Aqara app, which runs them on the hub.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The LED strip uses its own power supply in a socket, the H2 plug goes into a wall socket and the sensors are battery-powered. The kit counts as experienced DIY because of the tidy routing of the strip and the cables under the wall units.
What happens if the internet goes down?
According to the manufacturer, automations between devices on the same hub can keep running locally as long as the hub and the home Wi-Fi are on, and manual controls still work. Without internet you cannot control the house from outside, you get no notifications and the voice assistants may not respond.
Can I add more devices?
Yes. You can add more Aqara LED strips, door sensors, buttons and plugs to the same hub. For the kitchen you can also pair a wireless button to switch on the worktop light.
Are batteries included?
The water leak sensors and the smoke detector run on the batteries supplied in the box by the manufacturer; life and replacement are as stated in the instructions. The LED strip, the plug and the hub run off the USB power adapters included in the kit. The sensors' charge is checked in the app.
Can I switch the oven or the dishwasher with the plug?
No: the H2 plug is for small plug-in appliances such as a kettle, a coffee machine or a toaster, within the power the manufacturer states. The oven, the hob and the dishwasher have dedicated circuits and must not be connected to smart plugs.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
