Aqara smart entrance kit: welcome light and the door under control
Open the door or walk into the hallway and the light comes on by itself, but only when it is dark. The door contact warns you if the door is left open or if it opens while you are out. What it does
- The P2 motion and light sensor detects anyone walking past and measures the brightness: the light comes on only when it is really needed.
- The P2 door sensor reports every opening: in the evening it switches the light on, and while you are out it sends you a notification.
- The T1 relay module, behind the existing switch, turns the hall light on and off; the switch keeps working.
- After a few minutes with no movement the light switches itself off.
- The app shows the history of openings and lets you switch the light remotely.

How to install it
Hub and network. The M100 hub plugs into a USB power adapter, supplied in the kit, in a socket near the entrance or in a central spot in the home. It connects to the home Wi-Fi and acts as the hub for Thread and Zigbee devices; it can also expose them over Matter to other systems, as stated by the manufacturer. Place it high up and away from metal shielding.
Sensors. The P2 motion and light sensor goes on a wall or on a piece of furniture, about two metres up, aimed at the door and not at windows or lamps, which throw off the light reading. The P2 door sensor sticks to the door frame with the magnet on the leaf, aligned and close together when the door is shut.
Relay module and wiring. The T1 module with neutral goes in the back box of the hall light switch: live, neutral, output to the lamp and input for the existing switch. The 230V connections must be made by qualified personnel with the system isolated. Wago connectors are included for the joints; deep 503 back boxes or a junction box if the module will not fit behind the switch mechanism.
App and pairing. Install Aqara Home and add the M100 hub first. Then add the P2 sensors and the T1 module as child devices of the hub, following the guided procedure for each product. Rename the devices clearly, for example “hall light” and “front door”.
Recommended automations. Door opened, or motion detected while the light level is low: light on. No motion for three minutes: light off. Door opened while the home is in away mode: notification on your phone. Door left open for more than a few minutes: notification. Automations between devices on the same hub run locally, as stated by the manufacturer.
Contents verified. The P2 sensors work on Thread and the T1 relay module on Zigbee: the M100 hub handles both in the Aqara Home app. The hub is USB-powered and the adapter is not in its box, which is why the kit includes a 5V USB power adapter. The Wago lever connectors for wiring the module are included; the deep 503 back boxes and the Gewiss junction box are optional, for when the module will not fit behind the switch insert.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes: the included Aqara M100 hub links the Thread sensors and the Zigbee relay module and brings them into the Aqara Home app. It is USB-powered from the adapter supplied in the kit and connects to the home Wi-Fi. Without the hub the kit's devices do not work.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
The M100 hub supports Matter: the devices in the kit can be brought into Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home through Matter, as stated by the manufacturer. The fuller functions, such as history and advanced automations, stay in the Aqara Home app.
Do you need an electrician?
For the relay module, yes: it runs at 230V and has to be wired behind the switch, with the neutral, by qualified personnel with the system isolated. The hub and the sensors you can fit yourself, with a USB power supply and double-sided tape.
What if there is no neutral in the back box?
The kit's T1 module needs a neutral. If there is none in the switch back box, the electrician can bring it over from the junction box; alternatively, there are modules that work without neutral. Write to us from the contacts section before buying and we will point you to the right solution.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The switch keeps controlling the light. Automations between the sensors and the module on the same hub stay active locally, as stated by the manufacturer; without internet, though, you get no notifications and cannot control anything from outside the home.
Are batteries included?
The P2 sensors run on a battery, supplied in the box as stated by the manufacturer. The charge level is shown in the Aqara Home app. The hub and the relay module are mains powered and have no batteries.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more window sensors, a motion sensor for the hallway, more relay modules or a compatible lock. The M100 hub handles many Aqara Zigbee and Thread devices in the same app.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
