Three Shelly Plus Smoke photoelectric smoke alarms that join the home Wi-Fi directly, with no hub. If there is smoke they sound locally and send the notification to the Shelly app; one of the two Plug S sockets can switch the electric heater, or another plug-in appliance, off automatically. You fit it yourself.
What it does
- Each Plus Smoke uses a photoelectric sensor and sounds its own siren as soon as it detects smoke.
- The alert reaches the Shelly app over Wi-Fi, and the app sends the notification to the smartphone.
- With a scene in the app, an alarm from a detector switches off the Plug S socket feeding the electric heater or fan heater.
- The second socket can switch a second appliance off or, if you prefer, switch a lamp on during the alarm.
- The sockets meter the consumption of whatever is plugged in and can also be switched by hand or on a schedule from the app.
- In the app you see the state of every detector and the battery level.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. The Plus Smoke detectors and the Plug S units connect straight to the home Wi-Fi router on the 2.4GHz network. All you need is a good Wi-Fi signal at the installation points and the Shelly app on your phone.
Does it work with Alexa, Google or Apple?
The kit runs from the Shelly app. Detectors and sockets can be brought into Alexa and Google Home through the Shelly integrations, to switch the sockets by voice for example. Keep the safety scene that turns the heater off in the Shelly app.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The detectors are battery-powered and fix to the ceiling with screws and wall plugs; the Plug S units go into a wall socket. There is no electrical work to do.
What happens if there is no internet?
Each detector still sounds its own siren. Without internet, notifications do not reach you away from home and cloud-based scenes may not run, so the heater plug might not switch off by itself. The plugs can still be operated by hand with their own button.
Which appliances can I switch off with the sockets?
Electric heaters, fan heaters, irons or other plug-in appliances, as long as the power stays within the maximum the manufacturer states for the Plug S Gen3. More powerful or fixed appliances need a relay in the board: get in touch through the contact page.
Are batteries included?
The Plus Smoke detector runs on the battery the manufacturer supplies in the box; life and replacement are as stated in the instructions. The Plug S sockets have no battery. The detectors' charge level is checked in the Shelly app.
Can I add more detectors?
Yes. Each extra Plus Smoke is added to the app and can switch the same sockets. You can pair Shelly Flood water sensors or a Shelly Gas detector in the same app too.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
It happens, above all with multipacks and products that have only just come out. Get in touch through the contact page with the kit code and the item you cannot find: we will tell you the compatible alternative for the rest of the build, so the kit still works as described.
