Temperature of the milk in the tank and of the wash water with two PT100 probes and a display, current drawn by the vacuum pump and by the tank compressor, water consumption from the meter, climate of the milk room and floor leak alarm. LoRaWAN radio transmission, data and alarms from the app.
What it does
- A two-input sensor with display reads the tank probe and the wash water probe, shows the values on the spot, transmits them every 10 minutes and stores 10,000 readings.
- The threshold on the milk warns you if after milking the temperature does not fall within the expected time or if it rises again between one collection and the next.
- The threshold on the wash water shows whether each cycle reached the temperature required by the detergent.
- Two clamp current meters, on one phase of the vacuum pump and on one of the tank compressor, record start-ups, duration and current draw: a compressor that does not start or that does not cut out is seen at once.
- The pulse counter reads the water meter that is already there and totals the consumption.
- The temperature and humidity sensor follows the climate of the milk room; the floor leak sensor sounds on the spot and sends the notification with half a millimetre of water.
- History, charts and notifications can be consulted from smartphone and from PC.

Milesight devices of the highest quality with the manufacturer warranty. Batteries included in the sensors; the sensor with display can also be powered from USB-C 5 V, the current meters are powered by the conductor they measure, the gateway from the mains.
Available sizes
The size is selected at the top, together with version and connectivity. The diagram, the photo and the table above show the «1 tank» size; with the other sizes only the quantities of the devices listed below change, the rest of the kit is identical.
- 1 tank: 1 two-probe temperature recorder, 2 PT100 probes, 2 clamp current meters
- 2 tanks: 2 two-probe temperature recorders, 3 PT100 probes, 3 clamp current meters
In the complete kit the installation material linked to these devices (brackets, pockets, clips, cables, boxes) follows the size chosen. For a different size, write to us from the contact section.
Available connectivity
- Customer network (Ethernet/Wi-Fi): 1 semi-industrial LoRaWAN gateway
- Built-in 4G: 1 semi-industrial LoRaWAN gateway with 4G. SIM not included
In the complete kit the material for the gateway (network cable, pole, PoE injector) changes accordingly. The SIM for the 4G versions is not included.
Choose the version
- The Milesight devices in the table
- Installation guide and initial configuration
- For those who already have probe pockets and wiring material
- Everything in the basic version
- 2 stainless steel thermowells with half-inch connection, for the points that have no probe pocket
- Clips and cable ties to fix the probe cables
- 20 m two-wire shielded cable for the connection to the water meter
- Stainless steel clamp for fixing to a pipe or a pole, Ethernet cable for the gateway
- Wall plugs, screws, double-sided tape, numbered labels and installation diagram
Before you order
Is an internet connection needed in the milk room?
It is needed at the point where the gateway is installed: a network socket or the company Wi-Fi coverage, even in the office or in the house if they are close by. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway by radio. If the farm has no line, the version with a 4G gateway is available, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). It is chosen when ordering.
What is the radio coverage?
Milk room, technical room and office are covered without difficulty. For this gateway the manufacturer states up to 2 km in built-up areas; sheet-metal sheds and reinforced concrete reduce the range, so the gateway goes high up. The same gateway handles hundreds of devices: sensors in the barn, on the silos and on the tanks can be added later.
My tank already has its own thermometer
The kit does not touch it and does not control the chiller unit: it adds a second independent measurement, with history, an alarm on your phone and a reading on the display. A free probe pocket on the tank is needed; the probe is between 4 and 6 mm in diameter. If there is no pocket, the position must be agreed with the manufacturer of the tank or with the refrigeration engineer: the kit probe is not declared for direct contact with the milk and the vessel is not drilled. Write to us from the contact section with the make and model of the tank.
Are the recordings valid for self-monitoring?
The instrument is declared compliant with the EN 12830 standard on temperature recorders, stores 10,000 readings on board and exports them in CSV and PDF; the manufacturer presents it as an instrument serving HACCP plans. How to include it in your self-monitoring manual is decided by whoever writes it. The accuracy of the supplied probe is ±0.5 °C between -40 and +40 °C.
What do I see from the clamp meters?
The current of one phase, so whether the motor is running, for how long and with what draw: a compressor that runs without stopping, a vacuum pump that draws more than usual, a stoppage during milking. They measure current only: the kilowatt-hours are an estimate calculated with the voltage you set, not a fiscal figure. Below about 3 A the clamp is not powered; after the motor switches off it keeps transmitting for about 12 hours.
I have two tanks or a different installation
The kit is configured on the farm. Among the product options you will find the 2-tank size, with a second instrument with display, one probe and one clamp for the second compressor; gateway and platform stay the same. For milking robots, more chiller units or other situations, write to us from the contact section stating tanks, installation and distances: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
Sensor with display and two probes: over 2.7 years on batteries, or permanent power from USB-C. Pulse counter: about 5 years with one transmission every 10 minutes. Temperature and humidity sensor: up to 10 years. Leak sensor: over 5 years with a coin cell. The clamps have no battery. All batteries are replaceable and the charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?
On the app and on the portal of the manufacturer, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. If a herd management system or the dairy portal is present, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the internet or the power goes down?
The battery-powered sensors keep measuring and the display stays readable. The sensor with display and the pulse counter store the readings in memory and retransmit them when the connection comes back; the leak sensor sounds on the spot in any case. If the power goes down the gateway switches off and the notifications do not go out: to have the blackout alarm, which for the tank is the most serious fault, the gateway must be powered from a UPS.
Is an electrician needed?
Only for the two clamps, which are fitted inside the electrical switchboard: no cables are cut or disconnected, but the work is close to live parts. Everything else is battery-powered and is fixed with screws, cable ties or double-sided tape. For the pockets on the water line a half-inch socket is needed.
What is not included
- Tank, chiller unit, vacuum pump, milking system and water meter: they are the ones on your farm
- The pulse transmitter of the meter, if it is not already there
- Fitting the clamps in the switchboard and the sockets for the pockets
- The data SIM, in the version with a 4G gateway, and the UPS for the gateway
- In the "devices only" version: thermowells, clips, cables and small parts
