Tilt of scaffolding, formwork and excavation walls with a threshold alarm, container openings outside working hours, position of vehicles and equipment, water level in the excavation. Solar gateway with 4G: on site you need neither mains power nor a data line.
What it does
- Four tilt sensors, fixed to scaffolding, formwork or the temporary works of the excavation, measure the angle on the three axes with respect to the installed position. When the threshold in degrees is exceeded, a notification goes to the site manager and to whoever else has been named.
- Four magnetic contacts on the doors of the tool and material containers report every opening; outside working hours an opening becomes an alarm.
- Four GPS trackers on vehicles, generators, plate compactors and expensive equipment send their position at intervals and give a warning when the item leaves the area drawn on the map or is moved.
- The submersible probe in the collection sump measures the water level: after a storm you know from your phone whether you need to go and start the pump.
- The solar gateway with 4G collects everything and sends it to the cloud. The internal battery covers up to 4 days without sun.
- History, map, charts and notifications can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC, by several people as well: the contractor, the works supervisor, the safety coordinator.

| 4 | Outdoor GPS and Wi-Fi tracker, IP67 | Position of vehicles and equipment and an alert when they leave the area. |
| 1 | Level sensor with submersible probe, 0-3 m | Water level in the collection sump of the excavation. |
Milesight devices of the highest quality with the manufacturer's warranty. Batteries included in all the sensors; the gateway is powered by its own solar panel with a buffer battery.
Available connectivity options
- Stand-alone solar 4G: 1 solar LoRaWAN gateway with 4G
- Customer network (PoE Ethernet), outdoor gateway: 1 outdoor LoRaWAN gateway. For sites with mains power and a data line in the site hut; PoE injector supplied with the gateway, outdoor network cable not included
In the complete kit the material for the gateway changes accordingly (network cable, pole, PoE injector). The SIM for the 4G versions is not included.
Choose the version
- The Milesight devices in the table
- Installation guide and initial configuration
- For those who already have a pole, clamps and fixing material
- Everything in the basic version
- 3 m pole for the solar gateway
- Stainless steel clamps for the tilt sensors and the level sensor
- Stainless steel rope with carabiner to lower and recover the probe
- Anchors, screws, clamps, double-sided tape, numbered labels and an installation diagram
Before you order
Do you need mains power or internet on site?
No. The gateway is powered by its solar panel and has a built-in 4G modem: it requires a nano-format data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). All the sensors are battery powered. If the site already has mains power and a data line in the site hut, the version with an outdoor gateway powered by the network cable (PoE) is available at a lower cost. You choose when ordering.
What is the radio coverage?
In open ground the sensors reach the gateway from a few kilometres away. On site, cranes, containers, metal formwork and reinforced concrete structures reduce the range: the gateway goes high up, with a view over the work fronts. A medium-sized site is covered by a single gateway, which handles hundreds of devices. For linear sites or sites spread over several areas a second gateway is added.
Does the tilt sensor replace the checks on the scaffolding?
No. It is a continuous alerting system between one inspection and the next: it measures the rotation of the point where it is fixed with an accuracy of ±1° and a resolution of 0.01°, and gives a warning when the threshold is exceeded, at night and on days when work is stopped as well. It does not replace the inspections by the supervisor, the erection plan or instrumental geotechnical monitoring where that is required.
Do the trackers work as an anti-theft system?
They report movement and departure from the site area immediately, and send the GPS position as long as the vehicle stays within the radio range of the gateway, which in open ground is a few kilometres. They have no SIM: beyond that range they do not transmit, so they will not follow a vehicle along the motorway. They also have a tamper button that gives a warning if they are detached.
Does the magnetic contact work on the sheet-metal door of the container?
It is mounted inside, with the sensor on the frame and the magnet on the door leaf no more than 20 mm away. The manufacturer gives no specific instructions for metal doors: for this reason the guide provides for an opening and reception test before the final fixing. It is for indoor use (IP20): it must not be mounted on the outside of the door.
The site is larger, or it finishes in six months
The kit is configured around the site: tilt sensors, contacts or trackers are added without changing the gateway or the platform. When the works end, everything is dismantled and refitted on the next site; the initial position of the tilt sensors is reset from the app. Write to us from the contact section stating the size, the excavation fronts, the number of containers and of vehicles: we will send you the composition and the quotation for the adapted kit.
Battery life
Tilt sensors about 4 years with one reading every 10 minutes at 25 °C. Magnetic contacts about 5 years. Trackers more than 4 years with one position every hour, more than 8 years with ten positions a day. Level sensor up to 10 years. All the batteries are lithium, replaceable, with the level visible in the app. The gateway works for up to 4 days without sun; above 50 °C internal temperature the battery suspends charging.
Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from a smartphone and a PC, with charts, map, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. Where there is a project management system or a client platform, the gateway can send the data to that system as well (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if there is no 4G coverage?
The sensors carry on measuring; the level sensor and the trackers keep up to 1,000 readings in memory. Notifications are not sent until the network returns: before ordering it is worth checking the 4G coverage of the chosen operator on site.
Is an electrician needed? And what about the protection rating?
No device is connected to the mains: battery or solar power. The work involved is a pole, a few screws and some clamps. The gateway, the tilt sensors, the trackers and the level sensor are IP67 for permanent outdoor use, the probe is IP68; the trackers also withstand impact (IK09). Only the magnetic contacts are for indoor use.
What is not included
- The data SIM for the gateway
- Scaffolding, containers, vehicles and equipment: these are the ones on your site
- The dewatering pump and its control: the kit measures the level and gives a warning
- The NFC smartphone for the configuration
- In the "devices only" version: pole, clamps, stainless steel rope and small fittings
