What it does
- Each tracker determines its own position with GPS and transmits it by radio to the gateway of the yard: there are no SIMs and no subscriptions in the tracker.
- The position is sent at regular intervals, at fixed times or when the asset moves: the mode is chosen tracker by tracker.
- You draw the perimeter of the yard or of the site: when an asset leaves it or comes back in, a notification is sent.
- Under canopies and inside buildings, where GPS does not receive, the tracker detects the surrounding Wi-Fi networks, which make it possible to recognise the area it is in.
- The anti-tamper button on the back reports the detachment of the tracker from the vehicle. The tracker also measures the temperature and the tilt status.
- Positions, history and notifications can be consulted from smartphone and PC.
- The trackers only communicate within the radio coverage of the gateway: the kit watches over the assets in the yard and its surroundings, it does not follow them on the road.

How it is installed
Gateway. On a pole from 67 to 127 mm in diameter, fixed at the top with the supplied metal clamps, or on the upper part of a wall: higher than trailers and containers, with a clear view over the yard. The two 60 cm antennas must be vertical, beyond the line of the wall or of the pole and at least 35 cm from nearby walls. IP67 protection, operation from -40 to +70 °C.
Power supply and network. A single outdoor Ethernet cable carries data and power (PoE) from the supplied injector, placed indoors near the switch. All the connectors must be wrapped with insulating tape and then with waterproof tape, in layers overlapping by half. The manufacturer requires the gateway to be earthed and recommends surge arresters on the antennas. With a data SIM the gateway uses the 4G network and the cable is only needed for the power supply.
Trackers: where to put them. On the upper part of the asset, with the sky in view and not enclosed inside metal compartments: headboard or side member of the trailer, roof or upright of the swap body, canopy of the trolley, cover of the machine. The tracker is IP67 and impact resistant (IK09); it works from -30 to +70 °C.
Trackers: fixing. With screws and bolts through the two holes in the body, with double-sided tape on a smooth, dry and degreased surface, pressing firmly, or with cable ties. With double-sided tape, the hole in the tape must be aligned with the anti-tamper button, which has to stay pressed against the mounting.
Configuration. Via NFC or Bluetooth with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: sending mode, interval between positions, perimeter of the area, name of the asset. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with the position of the gateway, protection of the connectors, fixing of the trackers and switch-on sequence, plus the initial configuration of sending intervals and perimeter of the area based on the information provided when ordering.

Before you order
Do the trackers need a SIM?
No. The trackers transmit by LoRaWAN radio to the gateway of the yard: no SIM, no subscriptions per asset. The internet connection is only needed by the gateway: with the company network cable or, alternatively, with a data SIM inserted in the gateway, which already has the 4G modem (SIM not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). Where there is no power supply either, the version with a solar 4G gateway is available. It is selected when ordering.
Can I see the trailer while it is on the road?
No. The tracker only communicates when it is within the radio range of a gateway. Out of coverage it keeps determining the positions and holds up to 1,000 of them in memory, but it cannot transmit them. The kit is designed to know where each asset is inside the yard, the site or the depot and to know when it leaves. Those with several premises can install one gateway in each.
How large is the area covered?
The manufacturer declares up to 2 km in an urban area and up to 15 km in open field with a clear view. In a yard with stacked containers, buildings and tall vehicles it is prudent to count on a few hundred metres from the gateway, which must be mounted higher than the obstacles. For very large areas or with shadowed zones a second gateway is added. One gateway handles hundreds of trackers.
How does the area-exit alarm work?
You set a perimeter and the tracker reports exit and return. For the notification to arrive, the message has to reach the gateway: the perimeter must be kept well inside the area covered by the radio, and for the assets to be watched the mode that sends the position on movement is advisable. It is not a satellite anti-theft system: beyond the coverage the vehicle is no longer visible.
Which vehicles can it be fitted to?
To any asset with a mounting surface: trailers and semi-trailers, swap bodies, containers, trolleys, aerial platforms, generator sets, construction machines. The tracker measures 11 × 7 × 3 cm and requires no electrical connections. Magnetic fixing is not provided for by the manufacturer: screws, double-sided tape or cable ties are used.
I have more than 10 assets
Among the product options you will find the sizes with 20 and 50 trackers; the gateway and the platform stay the same. For larger fleets, more yards or temporary sites, write to us from the contacts section stating the number and type of assets and the extent of the area: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
It depends on how many positions are sent: the manufacturer declares more than 4 years with one position every hour, more than 8 years with 10 positions a day and more than 15 years with 2 positions a day, at 25 °C. Intense cold and frequent sending on movement reduce the life. The four lithium batteries are replaceable and the charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data viewed and are there any fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with positions, history and notifications; no fee for basic use. If there is a yard management system, a rental software or a fleet platform, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the internet or the power to the gateway fails?
The trackers keep determining the positions and hold up to 1,000 of them in memory. The gateway has an internal reserve of about one minute: without a power supply it does not work. Where the power is not reliable the solar version is advisable, with an internal battery lasting up to 4 days without sun.
Is an electrician needed?
For the trackers, no. The gateway works at extra-low voltage, powered by the network cable; on a pole in the open, however, the manufacturer requires the earth connection and recommends surge arresters on the antennas: this is work to be entrusted to an electrician.
