The Sunmeter Pro SM1-485PRO by Soluzione Solare is a solar irradiance sensor (photovoltaic cell pyranometer) designed to monitor the performance of PV plants. The sensing element is a monocrystalline silicon cell laminated under solar glass, so its spectral response is close to that of the plant's modules: the measured value can be compared directly with actual production.
Communication is digital over RS485 Modbus RTU with register mapping compliant with the SunSpec profile, so the sensor connects to data loggers, SCADA and EMS systems in medium and large plants without adapters. Besides irradiance it manages the input for a temperature probe, providing the cell or module temperature needed to calculate the performance ratio. The aluminium body and IP67 connectors make it suitable for permanent outdoor installation, in the plane of the modules.
