Aqara installer's case kit with M3 hub

An Aqara set for trying out and for installing at customers' places: M3 hub with Zigbee, Thread and Matter, T1 relay modules with and without a neutral, T2 double relay, H2 roller shutter switch and opening and motion sensors. It is set up from the Aqara Home app and, through the hub, reaches Apple Home and the other Matter ecosystems.

Who it is forInstallers who offer Aqara to customers on iPhone and Apple Home, and want the right parts always in the van.
What you monitorLight points with or without a neutral, two loads on a single module, one roller shutter, doors, windows and presence.
How you control itAqara Home app, Apple Home and the other Matter ecosystems through the hub, alongside the existing switches.
Installation level230V modules and H2 switch: electrician's work. The sensors and the hub need no tools.

What it does

  • The M3 hub is the Zigbee and Thread coordinator for every device in the kit and exposes them to Matter ecosystems.
  • The two T1 modules with neutral make two lighting points smart while the existing switch stays as the local control.
  • The two no-neutral T1 modules suit installations where only the live reaches the box: the optional bypass is for low-power LED loads.
  • The T2 double relay module runs two independent loads from a single box, handy for demonstrations with two circuits.
  • The H2 switch replaces the roller shutter control and gives up, down and stop from the app and from automations.
  • The three door/window sensors and the P2 motion and light sensor are there to show the customer scenes and notifications in a few minutes.
Need a case with more modules, roller shutters only or a version with a different Aqara hub? Get in touch through the contact page and we will build it around your usual installations.

How it is installed

M3 hub and network. Put the M3 hub somewhere central in the customer's home, away from metal cabinets and distribution boards, and connect it to the house network as the manufacturer directs. In the Aqara Home app you create the home, add the hub and update the firmware before pairing any device, so that Zigbee, Thread and the Matter bridge all start on the latest version.
Relay modules and the H2 switch. The T1 modules go in the box behind the switch: the ones with neutral where a neutral is present, the no-neutral ones where only the live arrives. The T2 is for two loads from the same box. The H2 switch takes the place of the roller-shutter control. The 230V wiring is for a qualified electrician, with the supply isolated.
Accessories and wiring. The Wago lever connectors are for joints inside the box with no tape and no loose terminals. If the module will not fit behind the switch insert, use the deep 503 back boxes or the Gewiss junction box, both optional. The Shelly bypass, also optional, is fitted in parallel with the load, and only on no-neutral modules driving low-power LED lamps that stay lit or flicker.
App and pairing. With the power back on, the devices are paired one at a time from the Aqara Home app, close to the hub: modules, the H2, then the opening and motion sensors. Each device is assigned to its room and given a name that is clear for the customer. From the hub, the Matter bridge is turned on to carry everything into Apple Home or whichever ecosystem the customer uses.
Recommended automations. For the demonstration and for the customer, three simple scenes work well: light on as someone passes with the P2 sensor when the light level is low, notification when a window opens with nobody at home, shutter down at a fixed time. They are set up in Aqara Home and stay on the hub even if the phone is off.
Contents verified. The T1 and T2 modules, the H2 switch and the sensors are all Aqara and pair with the M3 hub, which handles both Zigbee and Thread. Two packs of Wago lever connectors for the module joints are included. Options: deep 503 boxes if the module will not fit behind the switch insert, a Gewiss junction box for mounting the modules in a junction, and two Shelly bypasses to be used only with low-power LED loads on the modules without a neutral.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

Yes, and it is included: the M3 hub coordinates the kit's Zigbee and Thread devices. Without the hub the modules and sensors cannot be paired. The hub joins the customer's network and stays on at all times, somewhere central so it covers the whole home properly.

Does it work with Apple Home, Alexa and Google?

The main app is Aqara Home. The M3 hub works as a Matter bridge and brings the devices into Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and the other Matter-compatible ecosystems. Some advanced functions are only available in the Aqara Home app.

Do you need an electrician?

Yes for the relay modules and the H2 switch, which run on 230V: they must be wired by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated. The hub and the sensors, on the other hand, go up with no tools, on double-sided tape or screws.

When do I use the modules without neutral?

Where the lighting point box has only the line and the lamp return. With low-power LED lamps a module without neutral can make the light flicker or leave it faintly on: in that case the optional bypass is added in parallel with the load, as the manufacturer instructs.

What happens if there is no internet?

The automations saved on the hub carry on working on the local network and the existing switch inserts control the lights as before. Control from outside the house and notifications on your phone come back when the connection does.

Can I add devices?

Yes: the M3 hub handles plenty of Aqara Zigbee and Thread devices, and other Matter devices through the functions the manufacturer provides. To extend the case with more modules or sensors, get in touch through the contact page.

Are batteries included?

The door/window sensors and the P2 sensor are battery-powered: the cells are normally in the box, according to the manufacturer. The modules, the H2 switch and the hub run off the mains.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code: we will point you to an alternative that works with the other devices, checked like the rest of the set. Do not swap an item for something similar without checking protocol, power supply and type of connection: a different model may not work with the rest of the kit.

Why buy on Amazon?

Purchase, delivery, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon: times and terms are shown on Amazon when you buy. The kit is our own work: we chose the parts, checked that they work together and wrote this fitting guide. The link opens a basket with every item already in it.
