Sonoff Zigbee installer's case kit

The Sonoff Zigbee selection for the installer who works with eWeLink customers: ZB Bridge Pro hub, four ZBMINIR2 relays with neutral, four ZBMINIL2 without neutral, a two-channel module and one for roller shutters, with the Sonoff quick connectors. It covers both the points with a neutral and those without in the same flat.

Installation230V modules in the wall boxes: qualified personnel, installation isolated.

What it does

  • The ZB Bridge Pro runs the Zigbee network and brings all the modules into the customer's eWeLink app.
  • The four ZBMINIR2 modules with neutral switch lights or appliances and act as repeaters, strengthening the Zigbee network.
  • The four no-neutral ZBMINIL2 modules solve the boxes where only the live and the lamp return arrive; the optional bypass is for low-power LEDs.
  • The MINI-ZB2GS drives two separate circuits from a single module, for example two groups of lights with a two-gang switch.
  • The MINI-ZBRBS drives a motorised roller shutter with up, down and position as a percentage once it has been calibrated.
  • The Sonoff quick connectors make the joints inside the boxes easier.
For a specific job, with more roller shutters, DIN modules or a different number of points with and without a neutral, get in touch from the contact page: we will make up the case with the right quantities.
Sonoff Zigbee installer's case kit: installation diagram
1Sonoff ZB Bridge Pro hub centrally placed in the flat, USB-powered and on the Wi-Fi: it runs the Zigbee network.
2Sonoff ZBMINIR2 with neutral in the boxes behind the switches: it controls the lighting point and acts as a repeater. Four in the kit.
3Sonoff ZBMINIL2 with no neutral in boxes that have only live and the lamp return. Four in the kit.
4Two-channel Sonoff MINI-ZB2GS in the two-gang switch box: two circuits from one module.
5Sonoff MINI-ZBRBS in the roller-shutter switch box: up, down and position.

How it is installed

Hub and Zigbee network. The ZB Bridge Pro goes somewhere central in the flat, on a piece of furniture and not in a metal cupboard, powered by a USB supply. It is added to the customer's eWeLink app and joins the home 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It is worth setting it up first and then fitting the modules with neutral straight away, as they act as repeaters.
Modules in the back boxes. With the board isolated, the ZBMINIR2 units are wired to line, neutral and load; the ZBMINIL2 units to line and lamp return, with no neutral; the MINI-ZB2GS to the two circuits; the MINI-ZBRBS to the two roller-shutter motor phases; the existing switches go to the inputs, following the manufacturer's diagrams. Work on 230V must be carried out by qualified personnel.
Connectors, back boxes and bypass. The joints are made with the Sonoff quick connectors included. If a module will not fit behind the switch insert, use a deep 503 box or the junction box, both optional. The Shelly bypass for modules without a neutral is optional too: it is fitted in parallel with the lamp only where low-power LEDs flicker or stay faintly lit.
App and handover to the customer. Switch the supply back on and, in the eWeLink app, add the Zigbee devices to the bridge starting with the nearest ones. Name them by room and circuit, start the roller shutter calibration from the MINI-ZBRBS settings and check both channels of the MINI-ZB2GS. Then share the home with the customer's account and link eWeLink to Alexa or Google Home, if they use them.
Recommended automations. Shutter up in the morning and down at sunset. An “out” scene that switches all the lights off and closes the shutter, called from the app or by voice. Outside light on a schedule. It is worth setting up a group per room for the client too, so the voice command “turn off the living room” acts on every light point in that room.
Contents verified. Every module is Sonoff Zigbee, works with the ZB Bridge Pro hub included and is run from the eWeLink app. The Sonoff quick connectors are included for the joints inside the boxes. Optional: the deep 503 boxes, if the module will not fit behind the switch insert; the Gewiss junction box, as an alternative for putting the modules in a junction; the Shelly bypasses, only with low-power LED loads on the modules without a neutral.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

Yes, and it is included: Zigbee modules cannot join the Wi-Fi on their own and go through the Sonoff ZB Bridge Pro, which brings them into the eWeLink app. One bridge handles every module in the kit and any you add later in the same flat.

Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?

Yes with Alexa and Google Home, through the eWeLink app linked to their account. The bridge also works with Home Assistant. For Apple Home, support depends on the bridge firmware: check it before installing or get in touch through the contact page.

Do you need an electrician?

Yes. The modules wire into the 230V line, behind the switches, in the junction boxes or in the board: the connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated at the main board. The ZBMINIL2 modules work without a neutral, every other module needs one.

What is the optional bypass for?

A module without a neutral powers itself by passing a small current through the lamp. With low-power LEDs the lamp can flicker or glow faintly when it is meant to be off. A bypass, wired in parallel with the lamp, fixes it: you buy one only where it is needed, one per light point.

What happens if there is no internet?

The wall controls always work, because they are wired to the modules. Control from outside the house and the voice assistants need internet; some scenes can run locally on the bridge, as the manufacturer states.

Can I add devices?

Yes: more Sonoff Zigbee modules, opening, motion and temperature sensors, buttons and sockets can be added to the same bridge. The ZBMINIL2 units without a neutral do not act as repeaters: coverage comes from the ZBMINIR2 units and the other mains-powered devices.

Are batteries included?

Not needed: every module in the kit is powered from the 230V circuit and the bridge over USB. There are no battery-powered devices in the kit. If you add battery sensors or buttons later, the battery type is given in each product's specifications and normally comes in the box.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code: we will point you to a compatible alternative, with the same protocol and the same functions, so the rest of the kit stays as it is and the installation instructions still hold.

Why buy on Amazon?

Purchase, delivery, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon: delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon when you buy. The kit is our own work: the products work together and the basket already holds them in the right quantities.
