Four Aqara G5 Pro PoE 4MP outdoor cameras, each wired with a single network cable to a PoE switch that carries data and power. No Wi-Fi to depend on, microSD recording in every camera, live view and notifications in the Aqara Home app and in Apple Home with HomeKit Secure Video.
What it does
- Each G5 Pro takes data and power from a single network cable: the connection does not depend on Wi-Fi and stays stable even a long way from the router.
- It shoots in 4MP and recognises people, sending notifications to the Aqara Home app, within the functions the manufacturer states.
- It records to its own 128GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD, included; with HomeKit Secure Video the events also go to the user's iCloud.
- The hub built into the cameras means Aqara opening and motion sensors can be added without a separate hub.
- From the app you watch the live view from away and play back the recordings.
- The PoE switch indoors, next to the router, powers all four cameras and puts them on the network off a single socket.

Before you order
Do you need a hub or Wi-Fi?
No: the cameras connect to the network by cable through the PoE switch and have a built-in hub for any Aqara sensors. All you need is a free port on the router. HomeKit Secure Video needs an Apple home hub, a HomePod or an Apple TV.
What is PoE?
Power over Ethernet: the same network cable carries both data and power to the camera. The switch supplied goes indoors near the router, plugs into a socket and powers every camera: outside, no mains sockets are needed.
Does it work with Apple, Alexa and Google?
Yes with Apple: the cameras add to the Home app and support HomeKit Secure Video, with event recordings on iCloud+. For Alexa and Google the Aqara Home app has its own integrations; which video features work on smart displays is stated by the manufacturer.
Do you need an electrician?
There is no 230V wiring: the switch goes into a socket. You do have to run the network cable from inside to outside, drill the wall and fix the cameras up high: that work is best left to an installer or electrician with the right equipment.
What happens if there is no internet?
The cameras stay powered over PoE and carry on recording to microSD as set. Live view from away, notifications and iCloud upload resume when the connection comes back. With a UPS on the router and the switch you ride out short power cuts too.
Can I add more cameras or sensors?
The switch has its PoE ports taken by the four cameras: more would need a bigger switch. Aqara opening and motion sensors pair with the built-in hub, within the manufacturer's limits.
Are batteries included?
There are no battery devices in the kit: the cameras are powered from the PoE switch, which plugs into a socket. In a power cut it is worth protecting the switch and the router with a UPS.
