Sonoff GlassView window camera kit, 2 cameras

Two Sonoff GlassView cameras stick to the inside of the window glass and look out: you cover the entrance, the yard or the street without drilling through outside walls and without asking anyone's permission. They join the house Wi-Fi, record to their own microSD and are managed from the eWeLink app, with motion alerts on your phone.

Who it is forTenants, flat dwellers and anyone who cannot fit anything to the facade.
What you monitorTwo views looking outwards: the entrance, the yard, the parking space or the garden.
How you control iteWeLink app: live view, recordings and motion notifications.
InstallationDIY: they stick to the glass from inside and run off a nearby socket.

What it does

  • The GlassView units are fixed to the inside of the glass and film the outside through the window.
  • When they detect movement they send a notification and record the clip to their own microSD.
  • The two 64GB High Endurance microSD cards keep the recordings in the house, with no subscription.
  • In the eWeLink app you watch both cameras live, at home or away.
  • When you leave a rented place you take them off the glass and take them with you, with no holes or cables left on the front of the building.
  • The detection zones leave out the pavement and passers-by, so the alerts only concern your own area.

How it is installed

Wi-Fi network. The cameras join the home Wi-Fi directly, with no hub. Being indoors, near the window, they usually pick up the router well. Check the coverage in the two rooms chosen with your phone all the same, because recording and live view need a steady connection.
Cameras on the glass. Pick two windows that look onto the entrance, the yard or the parking space. Clean and dry the glass well, then fit each GlassView on the inside face as the manufacturer instructs, with the lens against the glass. Put them somewhere the curtains do not cover, because a curtain between lens and glass ruins the picture.
Power supply and storage. The kit includes three 5V 2A USB power supplies, as the cameras do not come with one: one per camera and one spare. Run the lead to the nearest socket along the frame. Fit a 64GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD in each, built for continuous writing.
App and pairing. In the eWeLink app add the two cameras one at a time with the setup wizard and the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Give each a clear name, “Entrance” and “Courtyard” for example. Watch the live view by day and in the evening: if you can see the room reflected in the glass, switch off the lights nearby or move the camera slightly.
Recommended automations. Turn notifications on only at night or when you are out, and draw the detection zones over your own door or parking space, leaving out the shared road and pavement. Out of respect for the neighbours, aim the cameras so they do not film other people's private areas.
Contents verified. The two GlassView units join the Wi-Fi and are managed in the eWeLink app, with no hub. The kit includes two 64GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD cards, one per camera, and three 5V 2A USB power supplies, because the cameras come without a power supply.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

No, the GlassView cameras join the home Wi-Fi directly and run in the eWeLink app. All you need is a socket near the window for the USB power supply included and steady Wi-Fi coverage in the room you fit them in.

Is the picture good through the glass, at night as well?

During the day the camera films through the glass with no trouble if the lens sits flat against it. At night, lights on in the room can cause reflections: it is best to keep them off near the window. For night-time performance, see the manufacturer's specifications.

Can I use them in rented accommodation?

Yes, that is why we chose them: they stick to the glass from inside, need no holes in the façade and come off when you leave the house. The privacy rules still apply: frame only your own property or your own doorway.

Do you need an electrician?

No. The cameras run off the kit's USB power supplies in ordinary sockets. There is no mains wiring and no outdoor work: fitting takes a few minutes, from inside the room.

What happens if there is no internet?

With the router on, the cameras carry on recording to the microSD cards. Without internet you get no notifications and cannot see the picture from outside the house; the recordings stay on the cards and can be reviewed when the line comes back.

Can I add cameras?

Yes, more GlassView units or other Sonoff cameras can be added to the eWeLink app. Each one needs its own microSD and a socket nearby. If you like, we will work out the combination that suits your windows.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code and the product you cannot find: we will point you to an alternative that works with the eWeLink app, so you keep a combination we have checked and you do not have to hunt for an equivalent model yourself.

Why buy on Amazon?

Purchase, payment, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon, as with any other order on the site. The kit is our own work and we checked that the parts work together; delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon when you buy.
