What it does
- The G100 records in 2K and mounts indoors or outdoors, as the manufacturer advises.
- With HomeKit Secure Video the event recordings go to the user's iCloud and are reviewed from the Home app, with people, animals and vehicles recognised by the Apple home hub.
- As an alternative, or alongside, the camera records to its own High Endurance microSD included and runs from the Aqara Home app.
- The T1 sensor on the front door reports opening and closing: when it opens with the house empty, a notification arrives and you can review the camera footage.
- From the app you watch the live view from away and get notifications when a person is detected.
- The M100 hub brings the Aqara devices onto Matter and is the base for adding more sensors later.

How it is installed
Hub and network. The M100 hub plugs into one of the USB power supplies included and goes in a socket in a central position; it is added to the Aqara Home app by connecting it to the home Wi-Fi. The cameras connect to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi: check the signal at the mounting points. For HomeKit Secure Video you need an Apple home hub already set up.
Cameras. The G100 is fixed to the wall with the base in the box, or stood on a unit. Outdoors they go sheltered by the eaves or a porch, at about 2.5 m, aimed at entrances and walkways without taking in neighbouring property or the road more than necessary. The lead is run to an indoor or protected socket.
Storage and power supply. Each camera takes its own 64GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD, which suits continuous recording. The T1 sensor sticks onto the door frame with the double-sided tape from the box, with the magnet on the leaf a few millimetres away. The 5V 2A USB power supplies are included because no power supply comes in the box; they go in sockets out of the wet, and the cable is clipped along the wall without pulling it tight.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app you add the camera and the sensor following the manufacturer's procedure, then format the microSD from the app. For Apple's Home app you add each camera with its code and turn on HomeKit Secure Video, choosing what to record: all activity or people only.
Recommended automations. Person notifications only when nobody is at home, using the location of the family iPhones; event recording with HomeKit Secure Video. If the front door opens with the house empty, an immediate notification with the clip. In the evening it is worth turning off notifications from the indoor camera, if you have one.
Contents verified. The G100 camera, the T1 sensor and the M100 hub are Aqara devices run from the same Aqara Home app; the sensor pairs to the hub, the camera joins the Wi-Fi and also goes into Apple Home with HomeKit Secure Video. Included are the 64GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD, one per camera, and the 5V 2A USB power supplies, as no power supply comes in the box.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
The G100 cameras join the Wi-Fi directly. The M100 hub included is for the T1 door sensor, which is Zigbee, and brings the Aqara devices onto Matter. HomeKit Secure Video also needs an Apple home hub: a HomePod or an Apple TV.
How does HomeKit Secure Video work?
The cameras are added to Apple's Home app; the footage is analysed by the Apple home hub and the event recordings go to the user's iCloud. An iCloud+ plan is needed that covers the number of cameras for the plan chosen, under Apple's terms.
Does it work without an iPhone?
Yes: the Aqara Home app, which is also available on Android, gives you the live view, the notifications and playback of the recordings on the microSD. HomeKit Secure Video, on the other hand, is an Apple feature.
Do you need an electrician?
No: the cameras fix to the wall or sit on a cabinet and run off the USB power supply in a socket, with no 230V wiring. Outdoors the socket must be sheltered from the rain; a new socket outside has to be done by an electrician.
What happens if there is no internet?
As long as the cameras have power and the home Wi-Fi is up, recording to microSD carries on as set. Live view from outside, notifications and iCloud upload resume when the connection comes back. Without mains power the cameras shut down.
Can I add more cameras or sensors?
Yes: more Aqara cameras are added to the app, and opening, motion and flood sensors and other Aqara devices pair to the M100 hub, within the limits the manufacturer states. They are all run from the same app, with automations that tie sensors and cameras together.
Are batteries included?
The cameras and the hub run on the USB power supplies included, not on batteries. The T1 door sensor uses a coin cell; whether it is in the box is stated on the product's Amazon listing.
