An Aqara G5 Pro PoE 4MP outdoor camera powered over the network cable through a PoE injector, with a sensor on the front door paired to its built-in hub. One cable carries data and power: no Wi-Fi to depend on. Live view, notifications and recordings in the Aqara Home app and in Apple Home with HomeKit Secure Video.
What it does
- The G5 Pro takes data and power from a single network cable: the link does not depend on Wi-Fi and stays solid even a long way from the router.
- It shoots in 4MP and recognises people, sending notifications to the Aqara Home app, within the functions the manufacturer states.
- It records to its own 128GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD, included; with HomeKit Secure Video the events also go to the user's iCloud.
- The hub built into the camera runs the T1 sensor on the front door: when it opens with the house empty, a notification arrives with the clip.
- From the app you watch the live view from away and play back the recordings.
- The PoE+ injector in the house, next to the router, powers the camera: a mains socket is all it takes.

Before you order
Do you need a hub or Wi-Fi?
No: the camera connects to the home network by cable and has a built-in hub, which the T1 door sensor is paired with. All you need is a free port on the router for the injector. HomeKit Secure Video needs an Apple home hub, a HomePod or an Apple TV.
What is PoE?
Power over Ethernet: the same network cable carries both data and power to the camera. The injector supplied goes indoors near the router and plugs into a socket: outside, you need no mains socket near the camera.
Does it work with Apple, Alexa and Google?
Yes with Apple: the cameras add to the Home app and support HomeKit Secure Video, with event recordings on iCloud+. For Alexa and Google the Aqara Home app has its own integrations; which video features work on smart displays is stated by the manufacturer.
Do you need an electrician?
There is no 230V wiring: the injector goes into a socket. You do have to run the network cable from inside to outside, drill the wall and fix the cameras up high: that work is best left to an installer or electrician with the right equipment.
What happens if there is no internet?
The cameras stay powered over PoE and carry on recording to microSD as set. Live view from away, notifications and iCloud upload resume when the connection comes back. With a UPS on the router and the injector you ride out short power cuts too.
Can I add more cameras or sensors?
Yes: for more PoE cameras it is worth moving to a PoE switch instead of the injector; further Aqara opening and motion sensors pair to the built-in hub, within the manufacturer's limits, and are run from the same app.
Are batteries included?
The cameras run on PoE, with no batteries. The T1 door sensor uses a coin cell; whether it is in the box is stated on the product's Amazon listing, and the charge level is shown in the app.
