What it does
- Each ZBM5 replaces the insert in the 503 box and controls its light with a mechanical key, with the same click as always.
- The ZB Bridge Pro hub connects the three switches over Zigbee and brings them into the eWeLink app.
- From the app you switch the lights on and off from away and set schedules, for example switching off at night.
- The mains-powered switches strengthen the Zigbee network for any sensors added later.
- With the eWeLink skill the lights answer Alexa and Google voice commands.

How it is installed
ZB Bridge Pro hub. Put the ZB Bridge Pro somewhere central in the house, out in the open on a shelf, not shut inside a metal cabinet. It is USB powered from a 5V supply and joins the home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It runs the Zigbee network and the scenes; devices powered at 230V strengthen the network.
ZBM5 switches. Check first that there is a neutral in the 503 boxes, which the ZBM5 needs. Switch off at the main breaker, take off the faceplate and the switch insert and note the conductors. Wire line, neutral and the switched live to the switch terminals following the manufacturer's diagram and fix it into the box. Work on 230V must be carried out by qualified personnel with the supply isolated.
Connections with Wago connectors. The Wago 221 lever connectors in the kit are for taking the neutral across to the switch and for joining conductors tidily. Dress the cables into the back of the box before fixing the switch, without crushing them, and check that the faceplate closes flat.
eWeLink app. Switch the supply back on, download the eWeLink app, add the ZB Bridge Pro and then, from the bridge menu, the three switches, putting them into pairing mode as the manufacturer describes. Name each one after the light it controls. Then link the eWeLink account to Alexa or Google Home.
Recommended automations. Set up an "out" scene that switches the three lights off with a single command from the app or by voice. Add a schedule that switches the outside or hallway light off at a set time. If you add a Zigbee motion sensor later, the hallway light can come on by itself.
Contents verified. The three ZBM5 switches are Sonoff Zigbee and work with the ZB Bridge Pro in the same eWeLink app. They are type 120, for the Italian 503 box. The kit includes Wago lever connectors for the wiring, useful above all for taking the neutral across to the switch.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes, and it is included: the Sonoff ZB Bridge Pro links the Zigbee devices and joins the house Wi-Fi. Without the bridge the Zigbee devices cannot be used with the eWeLink app. A 5V USB power supply is needed, an old phone charger will do.
Does it work with Alexa and Google?
Yes, through the eWeLink app: you link the eWeLink account in the Alexa app or in Google Home and the lights show up among the devices, to switch on and off by voice or to put in routines. The scenes you build in eWeLink stay available with no assistant at all.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes. The switches replace the inserts in the 503 boxes and need a neutral. 230V connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated. Setting things up in the app, though, you can do yourself on your phone.
What if there is no neutral in the box?
The ZBM5 need a neutral in the back box. The electrician can bring one from the junction box if there is a spare conductor or one can be pulled through. Otherwise there are no-neutral Zigbee modules that fit behind the switch insert: get in touch via the contact page and we will suggest the right kit.
What happens if there is no internet?
The mechanical key still switches the light on and off, like an ordinary switch. According to the manufacturer, some Zigbee scenes can run locally on the bridge; the app from outside and the voice assistants come back with the connection.
Can I add more devices?
Yes. The ZB Bridge Pro handles plenty of Sonoff Zigbee devices: more switches, modules behind the inserts, motion and opening sensors. Get in touch through the contact page for a build we have checked.
Are batteries included?
Not needed: the switches are powered from the 230V circuit and the bridge over USB. The kit contains no remotes or battery sensors; if you add a wireless button or a sensor later, the batteries follow the manufacturer's specifications.
