11kW Powered by Shelly wallbox kit that follows the sun

An 11kW TopAC EVE01 Powered by Shelly wallbox with adjustable charging current and a three-phase Shelly Pro 3EM meter in the consumer unit: the wallbox knows the household's consumption and the solar production and can charge the electric car on the surplus. Managed from the Shelly app, installation by an electrician.

Kit put together by Litio Store — buy it on Amazon.it. This is one of the smart home kits in the Domotica Smart section: you buy the products on Amazon from a basket we have already filled, at Amazon's prices on the day, and we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Who it's forFor anyone with an electric car and a solar system who wants to charge on their own energy.
What you controlThe car charging, with adjustable current, and the home's consumption per phase.
How you control itShelly app: start, stop, current, scheduling and charging history.
InstallationElectrician needed: a dedicated line for the wallbox and the Pro 3EM meter in the consumer unit.

What it does

  • The Shelly Pro 3EM uses its clamps to measure power and grid exchange on each phase.
  • The wallbox adjusts the charging current: with the functions of the Shelly app it can follow the solar surplus, as stated by the manufacturer.
  • The same measurement helps keep within the contracted power when other loads come on in the home.
  • From the app you start and stop charging, set the maximum current and schedule the times.
  • The history shows the energy charged and how much of it came from the solar system.
For single-phase systems, for a wallbox with a different cable length or to pair up storage batteries, write to us from the contacts section and we will tell you the right kit.

How to install it

Home network. The kit has no hub: the wallbox and the Pro 3EM join the home network over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or, for the Pro 3EM, by network cable. Check that the signal reaches the garage or the parking space properly: if it is weak, plan for a repeater or an access point before installation. In the Shelly app you create the account and the home.
Wallbox. The wallbox is fixed to the wall in the garage or beside the parking space, at the height stated by the manufacturer, and is fed by a dedicated circuit with the protective devices required by the standards. 11kW calls for a three-phase supply; on a single-phase supply the maximum power is lower. The 230V connections in the consumer unit must be made by qualified personnel with the system isolated.
Meter and wiring. The Shelly Pro 3EM mounts on the DIN rail in the kit's 8-module enclosure (3 modules plus spare ways) and the clamps clip onto the phase conductors downstream of the meter, each on the right phase and in the direction indicated. The kit also includes the ferrules for the stranded conductors and the Wago lever connectors for the joints.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app, add the Pro 3EM and the wallbox with the guided procedure. Check that the Pro 3EM's phases match those in the consumer unit and that the power is positive when there is consumption. Then set in the wallbox the maximum current the circuit and the supply contract allow, and link the Pro 3EM reading for load management.
Recommended automations. Enable surplus charging and set a minimum start power, so the car is not charged from the grid during cloudy hours. Add a limit on total power so the meter does not trip while the oven and the washing machine are running. Schedule a backup overnight charge for the days when you need the car full.
Contents verified. The TopAC EVE01 wallbox is Powered by Shelly and is managed in the same app as the Shelly Pro 3EM meter, which supplies the per-phase consumption readings. The kit includes the 8-module consumer unit (3 for the Pro 3EM plus spare ways), the ferrules for wiring inside the board and the Wago lever connectors.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

No. The wallbox and the Pro 3EM connect to the home network. The Shelly devices in the kit connect straight to the home Wi-Fi router and are managed from the Shelly app, on a smartphone or in a browser. Good Wi-Fi coverage is needed at the consumer unit: metal enclosures and cellars weaken it.

Does it work with Alexa, Google or Apple?

The kit is managed from the Shelly app, which is the one to use for charging, surplus and power limits. Through Shelly's integrations some controls can be brought into Alexa and Google Home; for charging management it is better to stay in the Shelly app.

Do you need an electrician?

Yes. The devices mount in the distribution board or in a small enclosure next to it and connect to the 230V line: the work must be done by qualified personnel with the system switched off. The kit gives the installer the enclosure, ferrules and connectors needed for tidy wiring.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The wallbox keeps charging and the Pro 3EM keeps measuring; both stay reachable from the app on the home network. Without internet you cannot manage charging from outside the home and functions that go through the cloud may be suspended, as stated by the manufacturer.

Can I add more devices?

Yes. In the same app you can add metering plugs, 1PM relays for other loads and meters for further circuits. Write to us from the contact page if you would like a kit built around your own consumer unit.

Do I need to buy any batteries?

No. Every device in the kit runs off mains power and uses no batteries. So there are no spares to keep at home and no charge levels to check: if the power goes off, the devices stop and start again on their own when it comes back.

Do you need a three-phase supply?

To charge at 11kW, yes. On a single-phase supply the wallbox charges at a lower power, and the Pro 3EM is set up on the single phase available. The actual power also depends on the car's on-board charger. If in doubt, write to us from the contacts section with your supply details.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

It happens, especially with multipacks and newly released products. Write to us from the contacts section with the kit code and the product you can't find: we'll point you to an alternative that fits the rest of the kit, so it keeps working as described.

Why buy on Amazon?

We put the kit together and tested it ourselves, picking the parts and checking that they work together. Purchase, payment, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon: delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon at the time of purchase, item by item.
