What it does
- A 60 GHz radar sensor on the roof of each silo measures the distance from the surface of the feed and transmits it to the gateway: from the app you can see how much product is left without climbing the ladder.
- When the level falls below the reorder threshold that has been set, a notification arrives, in time to order the feed.
- The threshold sensor on the drinking troughs reports when the water falls below the height at which the strip is applied: blocked float, detached pipe, emptied trough.
- The pulse counter reads the water meter already fitted and records the volumes: consumption that does not stop at night indicates a leak on the network or a drinker that is overflowing.
- The history of daily consumption shows drops in water intake from one day to the next.
- All data can be viewed from a smartphone and from a PC with history, charts and notifications.

How it is installed
Gateway. At the top of a pole from 67 to 127 mm in diameter or in the upper part of a wall, with the two 60 cm antennas vertical and free from obstacles, at least 35 cm from walls and structures. A single Ethernet cable carries network and power (PoE, injector supplied); the connectors must be taped against water and the earth terminal connected. IP67, operation from -40 to +70 °C. Declared range up to 15 km in open field and 2 km in built-up areas.
Radar sensors on the silos. On the silo roof, through a hole with a sealed flange or on an existing threaded opening (G 1½" connection). The sensor must look at the feed vertically: beyond 15° of tilt the measurement is suspended, so on conical roofs the flange must compensate for the slope. More than 20 cm from the wall, out of the path of the filling pipe and with no obstacles in the beam, which is 8° wide. Measuring range from 0.3 to 12 m.
Threshold sensors on the troughs. Only on plastic or fibreglass troughs with a flat wall, no more than 3 mm thick: they do not work on metal and concrete. The strip is glued to the outside, without bubbles, at the height below which the alarm is wanted, and must be sheltered from rain and splashes. Transmitter body fixed next to it with screws or a cable tie; 1 m cable. Then comes calibration from the app, in two steps: with the water halfway up the strip and then above the strip.
Water meter. The pulse counter is connected with two wires to the pulse output of the meter (dry contact or reed). The supplied cable is 1 m long: fix the sensor to the wall next to the meter, outside the chamber if this floods. In the app you set how many litres one pulse is worth.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: measuring and sending intervals, reorder thresholds, names of silos and troughs. The gateway is configured from a browser. No PC and no cables needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with the position of the hole on the silo roof, distances, calibration of the threshold sensors and switch-on sequence, and initial configuration of the reorder thresholds based on the silo height specified when ordering.

Before ordering
Is an internet connection needed near the silos?
A network cable is needed between the gateway and the company router or a switch: the same cable powers it. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway by radio. If the company network does not reach, the same gateway works on 4G with a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month); if power is missing too, the version with a solar 4G gateway is available. It is selected when ordering.
What is the radio coverage?
The manufacturer declares up to 15 km in open field and 2 km in built-up areas. Between sheet-metal sheds and metal silos the real range is lower, but it easily covers a farm centre: the gateway goes high up, with a view over silos and troughs. One gateway handles hundreds of devices, also in distant paddocks and pastures.
Does the radar measure the feed well?
The sensor measures the distance from the first surface it meets and is not affected by dust, condensation and temperature. The manufacturer documents it for liquids and tanks; with meals and pellets the surface is not flat and with the filling or discharge cone the reading is indicative: it serves to know when to reorder, not to keep stock accounting. The conversion into quintals depends on the geometry of the silo and on the specific weight of the feed.
Which troughs does the threshold sensor work on?
On troughs and tanks in plastic or fibreglass, with a flat and thin wall (up to 3 mm). It does not give the level continuously: it says whether the water is above or below the height of the strip. It does not work on steel, concrete and masonry: for these troughs, or to have the level in centimetres, write to us from the contacts section and we will replace the sensor with an ultrasonic or a submersible one.
What water meter is needed?
A meter with a pulse output (reed emitter or dry contact), not included. Many recent meters are prepared for it and it is enough to add the manufacturer's emitter. If yours is not, tell us the make and model from the contacts section.
I have more silos or more troughs
The kit is configured on the farm: each additional silo requires a radar sensor, each trough a threshold sensor; gateway and platform remain the same. Among the product options you will find the 4 silo sizes. For different situations write to us from the contacts section stating the number and height of the silos, the type of troughs and the distances: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
Radar sensor: about 7 years with one measurement every 15 minutes and one transmission per day, at 25 °C. Threshold sensor: over 10 years with three alarms per day. Pulse counter: about 5 years with one transmission every 10 minutes. All the batteries are lithium and replaceable; shorter intervals reduce the life. The charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data viewed and are there any fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. If a farm management system or the feed mill's portal is in place, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the network goes down?
The sensors are battery powered and keep measuring. The pulse counter keeps counting and stores the readings in memory, which it retransmits when the connection returns: the consumption total is not lost. The gateway has an internal reserve of about one minute, enough only for micro-interruptions: without power the data resumes when the current returns.
Is an electrician needed? And does it withstand the outdoors?
It is not needed: no device is connected to 230 V. The gateway is powered at low voltage by the network cable, the sensors are battery powered. The work consists of a hole in the silo roof, a pole, two wires to the meter. Gateway, pulse counter and body of the threshold sensors are IP67, the radars IP68. Gateway and radars work from -40 to +70 °C, the pulse counter from -30 to +70 °C, the threshold sensors from -20 to +60 °C; the strip of the latter is IP30 and must be sheltered from rain and splashes.
