Solis S5-WIFI-ST-4P Wi-Fi Data Logger 2.4GHz and 5GHz 4-Pin Connector IP65

The S5-WIFI-ST-4P is what puts a Solis inverter online. It plugs into the 4-pin COM port, joins the house Wi-Fi and from then on yield, self-consumption, battery state and alarms all land in SolisCloud, which you open from the app or from a browser. Without it the plant still runs, but you are blind: no history, no alerts, no remote diagnosis.

What sets it apart from older sticks is dual band: it works on 2.4GHz (802.11b/g/n) and on 5GHz (802.11a/n). Where the 2.4GHz channel is crowded with neighbours, or where a modern router keeps the two networks apart, you simply use the band that performs. Commissioning is done from the app over the built-in Bluetooth BLE 5.0, with no cable and no laptop.

Fitting takes minutes: push in, twist to lock, follow the setup wizard. Three LEDs tell you at a glance whether there is power, whether the network is up and whether the inverter is answering, and the reset button forces an immediate data upload when you need to check something on site. The housing is IP65, so it copes with outdoor mounting under the inverter. One logger can collect data from up to 10 inverters daisy-chained on the RS485 bus, which matters when a site has several machines.
