What it does
- The three magnetic contacts on the front door and the windows report every opening to the hub built into the G3 camera.
- The P1 motion sensor picks up movement in whichever room or hallway you put it.
- With the alarm mode on, an opening or movement sends a notification and the app shows you the G3 live picture straight away.
- The camera has infrared night vision and pans to frame the room; the recordings go to the microSD supplied.
- From the app you can point the camera at the area concerned and talk through its speaker.
- When you are at home you disarm with one tap or on a schedule: the contacts and the sensor still earn their place in automations such as switching a light on as you pass.

How it is installed
Camera and hub. Put the G3 where it takes in the entrance or the living area, on a unit or on the wall with the bracket, near a socket and with good Wi-Fi coverage. It is the heart of the kit: it acts as the hub for the sensors, so it needs to sit centrally to the doors and windows you want covered. Fit the microSD before switching it on.
Door and window contacts. Stick the body of each sensor onto the moving leaf and the magnet onto the fixed frame, lined up and a few millimetres apart with the leaf shut. Use the three contacts for the front door and the most accessible windows, the ground-floor ones or those onto the balcony for example. Clean the surfaces thoroughly before applying the tape.
Motion sensor and storage. Fit the P1 sensor in a corner of the hallway or of a room people pass through, facing the area to be covered and away from windows or heat sources. The High Endurance microSD in the kit is built for continuous writing: that is what a camera recording every day needs, and it is more reliable than ordinary cards.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app add the G3 camera by joining it to the home Wi-Fi, then pair the three contacts and the motion sensor one at a time, choosing the G3 as the hub. Name each sensor after its door or room. In the camera menu check the microSD is recognised and formatted.
Recommended automations. Set up an "Away" mode in which an opening or movement sends a notification and turns the camera towards the area of the event, starting a recording. Arm it on a schedule or when you leave. At home, use the P1 sensor to switch a light on at night and the door contact to get an alert when someone comes in.
Contents verified. Door and window contacts and the P1 motion sensor are Aqara Zigbee devices that pair with the G3 camera, which acts as the hub: no other hub is needed. The kit includes a 64GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD, because the camera has no storage of its own and a card built for continuous writing lasts longer.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No, there is no need to buy another: the G3 camera has a Zigbee hub built in, and the kit's three contacts and motion sensor pair to it. You can add other compatible Aqara Zigbee sensors to the same G3, up to the maximum number the manufacturer states.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
The G3 works with Apple HomeKit, HomeKit Secure Video recording included where there is an Apple home hub and a suitable iCloud plan, and with Alexa and Google Assistant for viewing on compatible screens. Paired sensors can appear in the same platforms, as the manufacturer states.
Where do the recordings go?
On the 64GB microSD included, locally and with no subscription. In the app you choose whether to record on events only or continuously. The manufacturer's cloud services are also available on request, at a cost, and are not part of the kit.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The sensors stick on with double-sided tape and are battery-powered, the camera runs off an ordinary socket with its own cable. There is no mains wiring to do.
What happens if there is no internet?
The camera carries on recording to microSD and the local automations between the G3 and the sensors keep working. With no connection, though, you get no notifications and cannot see the video from outside the house: both come back when the line is restored.
Are batteries included?
The Aqara contacts and the motion sensor run on batteries and, according to the manufacturer, arrive with the battery already fitted. The charge level is checked in the Aqara Home app, which warns you when it needs replacing.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more Aqara Zigbee contacts, motion sensors, flood sensors and sirens pair to the same G3. For a second camera or to cover more floors, get in touch through the contact page and we will tell you what to add.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
