What it does
- Four tilt sensors, fixed to the side of the brood box, store the resting position of the hive and raise the alarm when the angle exceeds the threshold you set: theft, tipping over by animals or by wind.
- Two hidden GPS trackers detect movement and send the position: as long as the hive stays within range of the gateway you can see where it is and in which direction it is moving away.
- The temperature and humidity sensor records the climate of the site every 10 minutes.
- The solar gateway with 4G modem works at sites without power and without a data line, in the hills and in the mountains.
- Notifications reach several recipients on their smartphone; the history of alarms, positions and climate can also be consulted from a PC.
- All the devices are battery-powered and cable-free: at the end of the blossom they are removed and refitted at the next site.

How it is installed
Gateway. On a pole between 67 and 127 mm in diameter, with metal clamps, at the edge of the site, in full sun and out of the flight line. Panel with a bracket that tilts to 15°, 45° or 75°. Vertical antenna, above the top of the pole and at least 35 cm from any structure. Nano-format SIM in the watertight compartment, to be closed fully again. It switches on by itself when you connect the panel cable. IP67, operation from -30 to +70 °C. Before choosing the site, check that there is 4G coverage.
Tilt sensors. With screws on the side or on the back of the brood box, fully flush against the wood, without spacers, with one axis of the sensor parallel to one side of the hive. Not on the roof and not on the super, which are removed at every inspection. The vent slot must not face upwards. Once fitted, the initial position is stored from the app and the threshold is set in degrees. Range ±90°, accuracy ±1°, IP67, from -30 to +60 °C.
Trackers. With screws, cable ties or double-sided tape on a clean and dry surface, at a point of the hive that cannot be seen from outside: under the floor or in a double floor. The sheet-metal roof shields GPS and radio: they must not go right underneath the metal. Transmission mode on movement, plus a periodic check transmission. IP67, from -30 to +70 °C.
Temperature and humidity sensor. With screws or a cable tie on a small post or under a stand, in the shade all day long and away from metal masses. IP67, range from -30 to +70 °C.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the free app from the manufacturer: initial position and threshold of the tilt sensors, tracker mode, reading intervals, names of the hives. The gateway is configured from a browser through its service Wi-Fi. The site area on the map and the recipients of the notifications are set on the portal. No PC and no cables are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with the position of the sensors on the hive, recommended thresholds, tracker settings and power-up sequence, plus the initial configuration of alarms and recipients based on the site specified when ordering.

Before you order
Are power or internet needed in the apiary?
No. The gateway is powered by its solar panel and has a built-in 4G modem: it requires a nano-format data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month) and mobile network coverage at the site. Sensors and trackers are battery-powered. For apiaries at the farm, with power and network, the version with an outdoor gateway powered by the network cable (PoE) is available, at a lower cost. It is chosen when ordering.
If a hive is stolen, will I find it again with the tracker?
It depends on where they take it. The tracker has no SIM: it transmits the position by radio to your gateway. As long as the hive is within its range, a few kilometres in open field, you see the movement, the direction and the last position; beyond that, the tracker keeps recording but cannot transmit. It is there to let you know at once that the hive is moving and in which direction, not to follow it all over Italy.
Does the sensor notice if the hive is lifted without being tilted?
It measures the angle, not the displacement. Anyone who lifts and loads a hive almost always tilts it by a few degrees, and with a low threshold the alarm goes off; a perfectly level displacement is not detected. This is why the kit pairs the tilt sensors with the trackers, which are triggered by movement. A threshold that is too low gives false alarms in strong wind and during inspections.
Does it disturb the bees or the work in the apiary?
No. The sensors sit outside the brood box or under the floor, not in contact with the combs. During inspections the alarms of the hives you open arrive anyway: it is best to suspend the notifications from the portal for the duration of the work.
I practise migratory beekeeping: does it move with the hives?
Yes. There are no cables and no sockets: the gateway is taken off the pole with its clamps and refitted at the new site, the sensors stay on the hives. After the move, the initial position of the tilt sensors is stored again, because the stand is never level in the same way. At the new site 4G coverage is needed.
I have more than 4 hives to monitor
Every extra hive requires a tilt sensor; gateway and platform stay the same and handle hundreds of devices. Among the product options you will find the 10-hive size. Many beekeepers protect the hives at the ends of the rows and those closest to the road. For more sites or more trackers, write to us from the contact section stating the number of hives and of apiaries: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Battery life
Tilt sensors: about 4 years with one transmission every 10 minutes, more with long intervals. Trackers: over 8 years with 10 positions a day, over 4 with one position an hour. Temperature and humidity sensor: up to 10 years with one reading every 10 minutes. Replaceable lithium batteries, level visible in the app. The gateway stays on for up to 4 days without sun.
Where are alarms and positions seen and are there any fees?
On the app and on the portal of the manufacturer, from smartphone and PC, with map, charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. The gateway can also send the data to another system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included. The only recurring cost is the SIM traffic.
Is it a burglar alarm connected to the police?
No. It is a warning system: it sends a notification to you and to the people you name, not to a security control centre. If the mobile network is missing at the site, the notifications go out when the connection comes back. It does not replace marking the hives, insurance and reporting the theft.
