CO2, temperature and humidity measured in every classroom, with the value always readable on the sensor display and the history available to school management and the health and safety officer. Battery-powered sensors, LoRaWAN radio transmission, data from app and from PC.
What it does
- In every classroom a wall-mounted sensor measures CO2, temperature and humidity and sends a reading every 10 minutes to the two gateways connected to the school network.
- The e-ink display shows the values in the classroom, always visible without an app and without switching anything on: whoever is at the teacher's desk sees when it is time to air the room.
- The thresholds are preset at 1,000 ppm (air the room) and 1,500 ppm (air the room immediately) and can be changed at any time.
- When the thresholds are exceeded the system sends a notification to the people you specify: the site coordinator, the school caretakers, the health and safety officer.
- The classroom-by-classroom history shows in which rooms and at which times the air exchange is not enough: it serves to organise the window openings, to assess a ventilation system and to document the measures taken.
- Temperature and humidity flag the classrooms that are cold, overheated or too dry during the heating season.
- All the data can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC with charts and notifications.

How it is installed
What is in the kit

| Qty | Device | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway, Ethernet and Wi-Fi | They collect the data from the sensors and send it to the cloud through the school network. One per floor or per wing. |
| 12 | CO2, temperature and humidity sensor with display, wall-mounted | CO2 from 400 to 5,000 ppm, temperature and humidity in every classroom, with the values readable on the screen. |
Milesight devices of the highest quality with the manufacturer's warranty. Batteries included in the sensors, replaceable; the gateways are powered at 5 V from a USB-C socket.
Available sizes
The size is chosen at the top, together with the version and the connectivity. The diagram, the photo and the table above show the «12 classrooms» size; with the other sizes only the quantities of the devices listed below change, the rest of the kit is identical.
- 6 classrooms: 6 CO2 sensors with display
- 12 classrooms: 12 CO2 sensors with display
- 24 classrooms: 24 CO2 sensors with display
- 48 classrooms: 48 CO2 sensors with display
In the complete kit the installation material linked to these devices (brackets, inspection boxes, clips, cables, enclosures) follows the size chosen. For a different size write to us from the contact section.
Available connectivity options
- School network (Ethernet/Wi-Fi): 2 compact indoor LoRaWAN gateways
- Large building (Ethernet/Wi-Fi, PoE): 1 semi-industrial LoRaWAN gateway and 1 compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway
In the complete kit the material for the gateway (network cable, pole, PoE injector) changes accordingly. The SIM for the 4G versions is not included.
Choose the version
- The Milesight devices in the table
- Installation guide and initial configuration
- For those who already have a network cable and fixing material
- Everything in the basic version
- 5 m Cat6 Ethernet cable to connect the gateway to the switch
- Wall plugs, screws and double-sided tape for wall-mounting the sensors
- Cable ties and adhesive cable clips for the gateway cables
- Numbered labels for the devices and a classroom-by-classroom installation diagram
Before you order
Is the school network needed?
It is needed only for the two gateways: an Ethernet socket or the school Wi-Fi, with outbound internet access allowed by the firewall. The traffic generated is minimal. The sensors in the classrooms do not use Wi-Fi and do not join the teaching network: they talk to the gateways by radio. For a site without a data line a 4G gateway can be provided, which requires a data SIM (not included): write to us from the contact section.
Are two gateways enough for the whole building?
Inside a building the range depends on walls and floor slabs, which is why there are two gateways: one in a central position and one on the furthest floor or wing. For a school on two or three floors this is the usual arrangement. With very thick load-bearing walls, several blocks or many floors the «large building» variant is preferable, in which the main gateway is a semi-industrial model with greater range, IP65 protection and PoE power from the network cable. Each gateway handles about 2,000 devices: adding classrooms does not require replacing them.
We have more than 12 classrooms or several school sites
Among the product options you will find the 24 and 48 classroom sizes. For different numbers, for several school sites or to add a gym, canteen and laboratories, write to us from the contact section stating the number of classrooms, floors and sites: we will send you the composition and the quotation for the adapted kit.
Can the students detach it or tamper with it?
The sensor is fixed to the wall with wall plugs and an anti-theft screw that locks it to the plate: a tool is needed to remove it. The settings are protected by a password. It has no microphone and no camera: it measures only CO2, temperature and humidity.
Does the CO2 sensor need calibrating?
The automatic calibration corrects the measurement on the background value that the classroom reaches when it is left empty and aired, and it is suitable for rooms that are ventilated regularly. Alternatively the manual calibration is carried out: the sensor in the open air for more than 10 minutes and a command from the app. The stated accuracy is ±(30 ppm + 3% of the reading).
Battery life
Each sensor uses two replaceable lithium batteries. With one reading every 10 minutes at 25 °C the stated life goes from about 3 to about 4.5 years, depending on the quality of the radio link. The charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. Where there is a building management system or a platform belonging to the owning authority, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the school network goes down?
The sensors keep measuring and the display in the classroom stays up to date: the indication for the teacher does not depend on the internet. Notifications and the history on the portal resume when the line comes back.
Is an electrician necessary?
No. The sensors are battery powered and are fixed with double-sided tape or two screws. The gateways are powered at 5 V from a USB-C socket and connect to the network with an Ethernet cable or over Wi-Fi: it is a job within the reach of the school's IT technician.
Can they also be installed in the gym, the canteen or the laboratories?
Yes, in any dry indoor room. The sensors are IP30, with operation from -20 to +60 °C; the display works between 0 and 40 °C. They are not suitable for changing rooms with showers, kitchens with steam or outdoor use. For laboratories, the gym and the canteen there is a dedicated kit in the Smart Home section.
What is not included
- The network connection for the gateways: an Ethernet socket or the school Wi-Fi
- Ventilation systems and their control: the kit measures and reports
- The smartphone with NFC for the configuration
- In the "devices only" version: network cable, wall plugs, double-sided tape and labels
