Water on the ramp and in the sumpTwo sensors with a 3 m sensing cable: the alarm goes off at the first contact with water.
MethaneTwo detectors with an 85 dB siren and a relay contact for an external siren or extraction.
Presence in the aislesFour motion and light sensors, with a history of presence.
SOS at the exitsTwo red buttons: pressing one immediately sends the notification to whoever you have indicated.

What it does

  • The two flood sensors have a 3 m long sensing cable: as soon as water touches it at any point the notification is sent. One goes at the foot of the ramp, along the collection grating; the other in the sump of the lifting pumps, at the level that for you is already an alarm.
  • The two gas detectors measure methane, the gas of natural-gas vehicles. When the threshold is exceeded they sound on site, send the notification and close a relay contact with which the electrician can operate an external siren or the extraction system.
  • The four motion sensors report presence in the aisles and the light level. The history shows when the garage is busy and when it stays lit for nothing; the data is available for the system that manages lighting and ventilation.
  • The temperature and humidity sensor records the microclimate: humidity rising after an infiltration, temperatures close to zero on the ramp.
  • The SOS buttons at the pedestrian exits send the notification to the building manager, to the caretaker or to whoever has been indicated.
  • Alarms, history and charts can be consulted from smartphone and PC.
For larger garages or ones on several floors, more ramps or more sumps, additional sensors, if there is no internet connection in the basement and a 4G gateway is needed, for very thick walls and slabs: tell us the characteristics of your garage from the contacts section and we will propose the right configuration together with the quotation.
Underground garage kit - security and flooding Litio Store: installation diagram in the underground garage
1Compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway, in a dry and central spot, connected to the building network: it collects the data of all the sensors and takes it to the cloud.
2Flood sensor with a 3 m sensing cable, IP67. Two in the kit: at the foot of the ramp and in the pump sump.
3Methane detector with siren and relay output, on the wall just below the ceiling. Two in the kit.
4Motion and light sensor, on the wall in the aisles. Four in the kit.
5Temperature and humidity sensor, IP67.
6Red SOS button next to the pedestrian exits. Two in the kit.

How it is installed

Gateway. On the wall or on the ceiling, high up and in as central a position as possible: the plate is fixed with two anchors and the gateway clips on by turning it. USB-C 5 V power supply, network connection with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. It is an indoor device, IP30, operating from -20 to +50 °C: it goes in a dry spot, for example the meter room, the stairwell or a garage box. For damp environments there is the version with an IP65 gateway.
Flood sensors. Transmitter body on the wall, with screws or double-sided tape, above the level the water can reach. The sensing cable is laid on the floor along the edge of the grating at the foot of the ramp, out of the path of the wheels and of the pedestrian route, and in the sump along the wall, at the alarm level. It is fixed with cable clips, never with glue or metal parts. The connectors must stay dry. The cable is 3 m long and cannot be extended.
Methane detectors. On the wall, high up, between 10 and 30 cm below the ceiling: methane is lighter than air and accumulates there. Bracket with two anchors. Away from ventilation grilles, doors and extraction vents, in a spot not exposed to dust and dripping. 12 V supply with the power adapter provided: a 230 V socket is needed near each detector. The relay contact carries up to 250 V and 10 A; the connection to a siren or to extraction must be made by an electrician.
Motion sensors, climate and SOS buttons. Motion sensors on the wall between 1.5 and 2.5 m from the floor, facing along the aisle: they detect up to 8 m with a 120° angle; there must be no fans or other moving objects in their field of view. Temperature and humidity sensor on a wall or on a pillar, away from doors and vents. SOS buttons next to the pedestrian exits, with screws or double-sided tape on a smooth surface, in a dry and clearly visible position.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: names of the points, reading intervals, temperature and humidity thresholds, notification recipients. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with heights, distances, routing of the sensing cables, wiring diagram of the relay contact of the gas detectors and switch-on sequence, and initial configuration of thresholds and notifications based on the floor plan indicated when ordering.

Before you order

There is neither a network nor mobile coverage in the basement: how does it connect?

The gateway needs internet, the sensors do not: they talk by radio with the gateway. The gateway connects to the building network with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi, if it reaches at least the stairwell or the meter room. Alternatively there is the version with a 4G gateway, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month): it must be placed where the cellular signal arrives, usually near the ramp or on the ground floor. It is chosen when ordering.

Does the gas detector also sense LPG and carbon monoxide?

No. It detects only methane, that is leaks from natural-gas vehicles. It does not detect LPG, which is heavier than air and requires another type of detector at floor level, and it does not detect the carbon monoxide of exhaust fumes. The kit does not replace the detection and ventilation systems required by fire safety regulations, where these are prescribed. The internal sensor has a life of 5 years from switch-on: after that the detector must be replaced.

Can it start extraction or a siren on its own?

The gas detector can: it has on board a 250 V 10 A relay contact that closes on alarm, even without internet, and an internal 85 dB siren. The electrician connects it to an external siren or to the enable input of the extraction system, through a contactor if the load is a motor. The other sensors do not control anything: they send alarms and data. Lifting pumps, extractors and switchboards are those of your garage and are not included.

Is the 3 m cable enough for my ramp?

The cable does not measure the level: it reports water at the point where it gets wet. There is no need to cover the whole ramp, it is enough to lay it where the water arrives first, along the collection grating at the foot. The cable cannot be extended and must not be laid where the wheels pass. For wide ramps, several ramps or several sumps further sensors are added: write to us from the contacts section.

I have a larger garage or one on two floors

The kit is designed for a single garage of up to about 3,000 m² on one floor. For larger areas, more floors or more blocks, sensors are added and, if needed, a second gateway; with very thick walls and slabs the «large building» version is preferable, with a semi-industrial IP65 gateway of greater range. Write to us from the contacts section with the floor plan, the number of floors, ramps and exits: we will send you the composition and the quotation for the adapted kit.

Battery life

Flood sensors and temperature sensor: declared life up to 10 years with one reading every 10 minutes. SOS buttons: over 7 years with 10 presses per day. Motion sensors: about 4 years, less in aisles with continuous traffic. The batteries are lithium, replaceable, and the charge level is visible in the app. The gas detectors have no battery: without power they do not work.

Where is the data consulted and are there subscription fees?

On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. Where there is a building supervision system or a business management system, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.

What happens if the internet is down?

The gas detectors keep sounding on site and closing the relay, because they do not depend on the network. The smartphone notifications for flooding, gas and SOS, on the other hand, are not sent until the line comes back. For this reason the gateway must be connected to a reliable line; if blackouts are frequent in the garage, it is best to power the gateway and the router from a UPS.

Is an electrician needed?

Not for the sensors, the buttons and the gateway: they are fixed with screws or double-sided tape and the gateway is powered at 5 V. One is needed to bring a 230 V socket near each gas detector, if there is not one already, and to connect the relay contact to a siren or to extraction.

Do they withstand the humidity of the basement?

The flood sensors and the temperature and humidity sensor are IP67 and work from -30 to +70 °C. Motion sensors, SOS buttons, gas detectors and the compact gateway are for indoor use, IP30: they go on the wall in dry spots, not exposed to dripping, washing or condensation. The gas detectors work from -10 to +55 °C.
