For B&Bs and guest houses that want to avoid lights left on in empty rooms. The Aqara FP1E presence sensor detects whether anyone is in the room, even sitting still, and the T1 relay module switches the light off when the guest leaves. What it does
- The FP1E sensor detects presence by radar, including someone sitting or lying down, not just movement.
- When the room stays empty for the time set, the T1 relay module switches the main light off.
- The switch in the room keeps working: the T1 module is wired behind the existing switch insert.
- The T1 temperature and humidity sensor reports in the app whether the room is too hot, too cold or too damp, between one guest and the next as well.
- In the app you see which rooms are occupied and which lights are on, useful for turnarounds and the evening check.

How it is installed
Hub and network. The M100 hub plugs into one of the USB power supplies included, in a socket in the hallway or at reception, if possible near the rooms. It is added to the Aqara Home app and connected to the building's Wi-Fi. It is best installed before the other devices, so that each one can be paired as soon as it is fitted.
Presence sensor. The FP1E sensor fixes to the wall with its bracket, facing the areas of the room it has to cover, at the height and angle the manufacturer gives. It is powered over USB: use one of the kit's power supplies in a nearby socket. Keep it away from curtains that move, from fans and from an air conditioner blowing at it, all of which can upset detection.
Relay module and wiring. The T1 relay module goes in the back box behind the light switch and needs line and neutral. The 230V connections must be made by qualified personnel with the supply isolated, following the Aqara diagram. The Wago 221-413 connectors are for the joints; if the module will not fit behind the switch insert, use a deep 503 box or, as an alternative, the Gewiss junction box.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app you pair the FP1E sensor, the T1 module and the climate sensor to the hub, each with its own setup wizard. Put them all in the same room, with the room number in the name. In the presence sensor you can adjust sensitivity and detection zone and watch in real time that it registers presence with someone lying still on the bed.
Recommended automations. Main automation: if the FP1E sensor reports no one present for at least 5-10 minutes, switch the room light off. You can add switch-on on return, in the evening hours only. Set notifications for temperature out of range or high humidity and, if you want, a summary of the occupied rooms. Avoid very short switch-off delays, which annoy anyone sitting still and reading.
Contents verified. The M100 hub, the FP1E sensor, the T1 relay module and the T1 climate sensor are Aqara devices compatible with the hub and run in the same Aqara Home app. The kit includes the Wago 221-413 connectors for wiring the module, the optional deep 503 back boxes if the module will not fit behind the switch insert, the Gewiss junction box as an alternative, and the USB power supplies, because no power supply comes in the boxes of the hub and the presence sensor.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes, and it is included: the Aqara M100 hub brings the presence sensor, the relay module and the climate sensor into the app and runs the automations. One hub covers the whole place as long as the rooms are within its range; for larger buildings get in touch through the contact page.
How does it differ from an ordinary motion sensor?
A motion sensor switches the light off if the guest sits still reading or falls asleep. The FP1E sensor uses radar that picks up even small movements such as breathing, so it knows someone is there even when they are still and only switches off when the room really is empty.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes, for the relay module: it wires into 230V behind the switch, with live and neutral. The connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated. The hub, the presence sensor and the climate sensor, on the other hand, you can fit yourself, on a USB supply or batteries.
What if there is no neutral in the box?
The T1 module in this kit needs a neutral. If only line and lamp return reach the back of the switch, you need a no-neutral module or a neutral pulled into the box: get in touch through the contact page and we will tell you which version fits.
Does it work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home?
Everything is managed in the Aqara Home app. The M100 hub supports Matter, so the devices connected to it can also appear in Apple Home, Alexa or Google Home where the manufacturer supports it. The light can always be controlled from the wall switch as well.
What happens if there is no internet?
The switch in the room always switches the light on and off. Automations between Aqara devices paired with the same hub can run locally, so switch-off on absence keeps working; you get no notifications and cannot see the status remotely until the line is back.
Can I extend the kit to other rooms?
Yes: each extra room needs a presence sensor, a relay module and, if you want one, a climate sensor, all paired to the same hub. Get in touch through the contact page with the number of rooms and we will put the configuration together.
