What it does
- The smart probes measure soil moisture at a depth of 20-30 cm and transmit it to the gateway with a 4G internet connection.
- When the set thresholds are exceeded the system opens the zone concerned and closes it automatically; alternatively the zones can be operated manually from the app or scheduled by time.
- The pressure sensor on the manifold raises an alarm in the event of an abnormal drop with the zone open (burst) or of pressure that does not fall when the valve is commanded (blocked valve).
- The pulse counter reads the water meter already fitted on the system and records the volumes delivered.
- All data can be viewed from a smartphone and from a PC with history, charts and notifications.
- The irrigation rules reside in the controllers and keep working even when there is no 4G coverage.

How it is installed
Gateway. On a pole, 3-5 m above the ground, at the edge of the field with a clear view over the rows and the panel facing south. Coverage in open field up to 2-3 km; with height differences or tall trees allow for 1 km.
Controllers. One per header line, on a short pole next to the valve box, with the solar panel supplied. Two-wire connection for each solenoid valve.
Moisture probes. Probe buried horizontally at 20-30 cm at the base of a plant, in a row representative of the zone; transmitter body fixed vertically on a stake about 1 m above the ground.
Pressure and flow rate. Pressure sensor screwed onto the main manifold with a half-inch gauge cock; pulse counter connected with two wires to the pulse output of the water meter.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: thresholds, reading intervals, zone names. No PC and no cables needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with heights, depths, distances and switch-on sequence, and initial threshold configuration based on the crop specified when ordering.

In the complete kit the material for the gateway (network cable, pole, PoE injector) changes accordingly. The SIM for the 4G versions is not included.

Before ordering
Is an internet connection needed in the field?
No. The gateway has a built-in 4G modem and requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). Alternatively the version with an indoor gateway connected to the company network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi is available at a lower cost: it requires power and network coverage at the installation point. State this when ordering or from the contacts section.
What is the radio coverage?
In open field up to 2-3 km between sensors and gateway; with height differences or tall trees it is prudent to allow for 1 km. For larger areas a second gateway is added. One gateway handles hundreds of devices.
Which solenoid valves are compatible?
Bistable pulse (latching) solenoid valves 9-12 V, the same ones used by battery-powered timers and the usual equipment of valve boxes in drip systems; for this reason they are not included. With 24 V AC valves from a mains-powered timer it is enough to replace the coils.
I have more than 4 zones or a different system
The kit is configured on the system: each additional controller operates 2 more zones, gateway and platform remain the same. Write to us from the contacts section stating the number of zones, the area and the crop: we will send you the composition and the quotation of the adapted kit.
Which crops is it suitable for?
Orchards, irrigated vineyards, open-field vegetables, nurseries, hazelnut groves and citrus groves. The probes measure volumetric moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity at 20-30 cm, the depth of the active roots in tree and vegetable crops. For deep-rooted crops a second probe per point can be added at 50 cm.
Battery life
Probes and sensors run on an internal battery for several years with readings every 20-30 minutes; life depends on the interval set. Controllers and gateway are powered by the solar panels with a buffer battery; the gateway guarantees 4 days of operation without sun.
Where is the data viewed and are there any fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. If a farming platform or a management system is in place, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if there is no 4G coverage?
The controllers carry out the rules already set and the gateway stores the readings until the network is restored. The latching solenoid valves hold their position and the controller closes them at the end of the cycle even without a connection to the gateway.
Is an electrician necessary?
No. No device is connected to the mains: battery or solar power, extra-low voltage wiring. The work is that of a drip system: poles, stakes, two wires per valve, one 1/4" fitting.
Degree of protection
All devices are IP67 with an operating temperature from -30 to +70 °C, for permanent outdoor installation. The gateway has a die-cast aluminium body.
