Customisable kits. This is one of the Milesight LoRaWAN kits in the Smart Home section. For different installations, custom kits or bespoke automations, write to us from the contacts section.
Several sizes. The figures, the diagram and the table on this page describe the «1 entrance» size. The other sizes are selected at the top and are listed further down, under «Available sizes».
Entries countedCeiling people counter above the door: entries and exits kept apart, even with groups.
2 passages between departmentsIndicative counting of internal flows: how many go up to the upper floor, how many reach the back of the shop.
Comfort in the sales areaCO2, temperature and humidity with a display, from 400 to 5,000 ppm.
2 fitting roomsWireless button: the customer calls, the sales assistant gets the notification.

What it does

  • The people counter above the entrance counts entries and exits with a time-of-flight sensor: it tells apart people walking in side by side or in a group, with an accuracy of 99.8% declared by the manufacturer. It is not a camera and it does not recognise anyone.
  • The entries per hour and per day, compared with the receipts from your till, give you the conversion rate: how many of those who come in make a purchase, and in which time slots.
  • The two passage people counters on the openings between departments show how many of the visitors reach a given area: upper floor, department at the back, promotions area. Accuracy reaches 80%: it is a comparison figure, not an exact count.
  • The sensor in the sales area measures CO2, temperature and humidity and shows them on the display: when the shop is full you can see when the air needs changing.
  • The buttons in the fitting rooms send the call to the staff's phone or tablet; the button has a buzzer and an indicator light to confirm.
  • History, charts by time slot, comparison between days and notifications can be consulted from a smartphone and from a PC.
For shops with several entrances or several floors, a different number of openings or fitting rooms, several stores to compare, if there is no internet connection in the shop and a 4G gateway is needed: tell us the characteristics of your store from the contacts section and we will propose the right configuration together with the quotation.
Litio Store shop footfall and conversion kit: installation diagram in a shop
1Compact indoor LoRaWAN gateway, in the back room or behind the till, connected to the shop network: it collects the data and sends it to the cloud.
2Time-of-flight people counter on the ceiling, above the entrance, powered at 12 V.
3Passage people counter on the ceiling at the openings between departments. Two in the kit.
4CO2, temperature and humidity sensor with display, wall-mounted in the sales area.
5Wireless call button in the fitting rooms. Two in the kit.

How it is installed

Gateway. Compact indoor gateway, on a shelf, on the wall or on the ceiling, in the back room or behind the till, close to the router and away from metal shelving. Connection by Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi, USB-C 5 V power supply. IP30 protection, operation from -20 to +50 °C.
People counter at the entrance. On the ceiling, indoors, above the circulation area, facing down with a maximum tilt of 15°, at a height from 2.3 to 3.5 m: at 3 m the counting area is about 3 × 2.2 m. At least 50 cm from the walls and 40 cm from the path of a hinged door leaf; not right next to shop windows and mirrors. Fixing with 4 anchors on a flat ceiling. 12 V power supply with the included adapter: a socket near the entrance is needed, not a network cable.
People counters between departments. On the ceiling above the opening, at 2-3 m, facing down: at 3 m they cover a passage up to 3.1 m wide. Alternatively on the wall, beside the passage, 1.2-1.3 m above the floor, for openings up to 2.3 m. At least 45 cm from the walls, away from air vents, split units and heat sources, not facing glazed surfaces. Fixing with anchors and screws.
Room sensor and buttons. CO2 sensor on the wall, at least 1.5 m above the floor, away from the entrance door, shop windows, air vents and spotlights. Buttons in the fitting rooms with double-sided tape or screws, within reach and clearly visible. A short, a long and a double press can be assigned to three different requests. Both are indoor devices.
Configuration. People counters between departments, room sensor and buttons via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app. The entrance people counter has no NFC: it is configured from a browser by connecting to the device's Wi-Fi, and that is where the counting is set up. The gateway is also configured from a browser.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with heights, distances from the door and from the walls, counting areas at the various heights and power-up sequence, plus initial configuration with the names of the entrance, departments and fitting rooms given at the time of the order.

Before you order

Is internet needed in the shop?

Yes, at the point where the gateway is installed: a free port on the router or the shop Wi-Fi. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk to the gateway over radio. If there is no line in the shop, or it belongs to the shopping centre and you cannot use it, the version with a 4G gateway is available, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). It is selected at the time of the order.

Does one gateway cover the whole shop?

A store of up to about 400 m² on one floor, yes, with the gateway centrally positioned. Range inside a building depends on walls and floor slabs: for shops on several floors, with reinforced concrete slabs or detached storerooms, choose the «large building» variant, with a longer-range gateway. One gateway handles hundreds of devices.

Does the people counter film the customers?

No. The entrance people counter is a time-of-flight sensor: it measures distances, it is not a camera. The ones between departments are passive infrared. Only numbers leave the kit: entries, exits, passages.

I have a hinged door, or a glass door: does it work?

Yes, with two precautions. With a hinged leaf the sensor has to be kept at least 40 cm from the path of the leaf, or else the leaf stays open during opening hours. The manufacturer advises against mounting it right next to glass and mirrors: the sensor goes indoors, set back from the shop window, keeping 50 cm from the walls. The ceiling must be between 2.3 and 3.5 m; for greater heights there is a specific version, to be requested from the contacts section.

How do I get the conversion rate?

The kit provides the entries per hour and per day. The conversion rate is worked out by dividing the receipts by the entries: the receipts come from your till or from your management software, which are not included. The entries are read on the portal, or the gateway sends them straight to the management software.

I have two entrances, several floors or several shops

The kit is configured around the store: people counters, buttons and sensors are added, while the gateway and the platform stay the same. Among the product options you will find the 2-entrance size; for very wide entrances, several floors or a chain of shops write to us from the contacts section stating the floor area, the number and width of the entrances, the departments and the fitting rooms: we will send you the composition and the quotation for the adapted kit.

Battery life

The manufacturer states about 4 years for the passage people counters with 1,000 passages per day, from 3 to 4 and a half years for the CO2 sensor with one reading every 10 minutes, more than 7 years for the buttons with 10 presses per day. The batteries are lithium and can be replaced. The entrance people counter has no battery. The charge level is visible in the app.

Where is the data consulted and are there any fees?

On the manufacturer's app and portal, from a smartphone and a PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. Where shop management software or sales analysis software is in place, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.

What happens if the internet goes down?

The people counters keep counting; the ones between departments keep the latest counts in memory. The calls from the fitting rooms do not reach the phone until the line comes back. If the power goes out, the entrance people counter and the gateway stop and start up again by themselves when it returns.

Is an electrician required?

Only if there is no socket on the ceiling near the entrance for the 12 V adapter of the people counter. Everything else is battery-powered and is fixed with anchors or double-sided tape; the gateway connects to the router like any other network device.

What is not included
  • Till and management software: the receipts for calculating conversion come from your own systems
  • The power socket on the ceiling for the entrance people counter
  • The data SIM, in the version with a 4G gateway
  • The USB-C 5 V power adapter for the gateway
  • In the "devices only" version: Ethernet cables, bracket and small parts
