The WattKit ELE-WK-DC-2S-T2 pre-wired DC combiner box is an array box already assembled and factory wired for the protection of the DC side of a photovoltaic plant with 2 strings. Inside are fitted the Type 2 surge protective devices (3 poles, 20–40 kA, 1000 V DC) and the fuse holders on the positive and negative conductor of each string, following the manufacturer's diagram.
It is installed between the PV modules and the inverter, typically wall mounted close to the inverter itself or on the roof. Connections are made through MC4 connectors passing through the bottom of the box, with a cable gland for the earth conductor and a pressure compensation valve; the enclosure has an IP65 protection rating and an operating temperature from −25 to +60 °C, so it can also be used outdoors. Because it comes pre-wired, it considerably reduces assembly time compared with fitting individual components on a DIN rail.
