AC Combiner Box 20 A Single-Phase with Type 2 SPD
Alternating current combiner box for single-phase photovoltaic systems: it is installed on the AC side of the system, between the inverter output and the building's electrical distribution board. It is the pre-wired solution for creating a tidy, quick protection point on the line connecting the inverter to the grid, avoiding the need to assemble a dedicated enclosure on site.
Inside are a 20 A miniature circuit breaker, which protects the AC line against overload and short circuit and allows the inverter to be isolated for maintenance work, and a Type 2 surge protective device (class II), which limits surges of indirect atmospheric and switching origin coming from the grid, protecting the inverter electronics. A current of 20 A on a 230 V single-phase grid corresponds roughly to inverters up to about 4.6 kW.
