DC Combiner Box 1000 V with Type 1+2 SPD for 1 String and 1 MPPT
The DC combiner box is installed on the DC side of the photovoltaic system, along the line connecting the module string to the inverter input. This compact version is fitted with a combined Type 1+2 surge arrester, to be used when the building is protected by a lightning protection system (LPS) or when there is a risk of a direct lightning strike on the photovoltaic generator or on the incoming lines.
The installed device is a Phoenix Contact Type 1+2 surge protective device for photovoltaics, rated for 1000 V DC and wired for one string on one MPPT input. A combined device of this kind can discharge both lightning current (10/350 µs waveform) and induced surges (8/20 µs waveform), providing coarse protection and fine protection in a single unit. The string connections are made with original Stäubli MC4 connectors.
