OBO Bettermann PVG-C1000K 220 DC Generator Connection Box Type 2 1000V DC 2 MPPT 4 Strings IP66

This is OBO Bettermann’s DC generator connection box, the enclosure that goes between the PV modules and the inverter to gather the strings and protect the DC input from surges. It arrives pre-wired: two Type 2 arresters are already fitted inside, with nothing to assemble.

It serves 2 MPPTs with 2 strings each, four strings in all, up to 1000V DC open-circuit voltage and 41A DC per terminal. The arresters use pluggable varistor cartridges with a built-in disconnection device in a fault-resistant Y circuit to VDE 0100-712: a spent cartridge is swapped without touching the wiring, and an optical indicator tells you when that moment has come. Declared protection level is below 4.0kV, maximum discharge current 40kA at 8/20µs, response time under 25ns.

The enclosure is UV-resistant polycarbonate rated IP66 with IK07 impact resistance: it is built to live outdoors, in sun and rain. The box ships with a cable gland set and a pressure compensation element. One caveat OBO itself raises: where wind, ice, temperature or sun exposure can cause condensation, extra measures may be needed. Installation is a job for a qualified electrician.
