Safiery STAR-Switch SP4 Wireless 4-Button — 12V Supply (always-on backlight)

STAR is Safiery digital switching: wireless and CAN switching modules that replace relays and wiring looms and integrate straight into Victron systems. They are driven from a keypad, from the app or from the on-board display, and every channel is electronically protected.

SP4 wireless 4-button switch powered from 12V for always-on backlight.

The STAR-Switch SP4 Wireless 4-Button - 12V Supply is the hardwired-power version of Safiery's SP4 wireless button switch: the same 4-button layout as the battery-powered SP4, but wired to a permanent 12V feed instead of running off an internal battery. That's the whole point of the 12V variant - with a constant power source instead of a battery, the backlight can stay on continuously, so the buttons stay legible after dark. It suits a galley or interior panel position in a 4WD, motorhome, van, or caravan (note: Safiery's installation guidance places STAR range products in the rear of the vehicle, not the engine bay or the cabin where the driver and passenger sit) where a 12V feed is already close to the mounting point and you want the switch visible at a glance.

Like every wireless switch in the STAR range, the SP4 talks to its controller over Bluetooth Long Range, so there's no CAN wiring to run to the switch itself - just the 12V supply lead. Each switch is programmed with its own Bluetooth UUID, and the controller will only accept commands from that specific UUID once paired, so it won't pick up a neighbouring STAR system or cross-talk with another switch on the same rig. It pairs with any of the three Bluetooth-equipped STAR controllers - STAR-Power, STAR-Light, or STAR-Rover - and a single system supports up to 80 wireless switches, so the 12V Supply can sit alongside the battery-powered SP4, the STAR-Switch Quad, or CAN keypads like the SP8 and Icon, without hitting a capacity ceiling.

Choose the 12V Supply over the standard battery SP4 when a wired power source is already at the mounting point and an always-on backlight is worth running that extra wire; choose the battery SP4 instead when you need to mount the switch somewhere a 12V feed isn't practical to reach.

How it works

Digital switching replaces the relays and the wiring looms that normally link every switch to its load. A STAR module is fitted next to the loads (lights, pumps, awning, fridge) and short wires run from the module to the load; the buttons talk to the module over radio or CAN, so no control cable has to reach the dashboard. Every channel has its own electronic protection: if a load draws too much, the channel opens by itself and is reset from the button or the app, with no fuse to change. Connect the CAN bus to a Victron Cerbo GX or a Quasar Glass display and the same channels are controlled from the on-board screen.
