The Sunmeter 2 Pro (SM2-485PRO) by Soluzione Solare is a reference cell irradiance sensor that measures solar irradiance on the plane of the modules. It uses a high quality monocrystalline PV cell laminated with anti-reflective solar glass, so as to have the same spectral and angular response as the plant's modules: this is the figure required to calculate the Performance Ratio and verify actual yield according to IEC 61724-1.
It is installed coplanar with the modules, on the mounting structure, using the fixing bracket supplied. The output is digital RS485 with Modbus RTU protocol compliant with the SunSpec standard, so it connects directly to the data loggers and smart loggers of the main inverter manufacturers. The connection is made with an 8-pin IP67 M12 connector on a 50 cm UV-resistant cable; the power supply is 9–30 V DC with protection against polarity reversal and short circuit. The body is made of aluminium with UV-resistant E.V.A. encapsulation. The sensor also includes temperature measurement and can be combined with the Temmeter module temperature probe and the anemometer of the same family.
