The Huawei LUNA2000-5-E0 is the 5 kWh battery module of the LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 high voltage storage system. Each tower consists of a LUNA2000-5KW-C0 power module and 1, 2 or 3 LUNA2000-5-E0 modules, to obtain 5, 10 or 15 kWh respectively; by connecting 2 systems in parallel, 30 kWh can be reached. The module is therefore both the basic configuration and the expansion element of an already installed system.

The cells are lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) and Huawei states a depth of discharge of 100%, with module-level energy optimisation (Module+) recovering up to 10% more usable energy. The output power is 2.5 kW continuous (peak 3.5 kW for 10 s) with a single module and 5 kW continuous (peak 7 kW for 10 s) with two or three modules. The system works between 350 and 560 V in single-phase installations and between 600 and 980 V in three-phase ones, communicates via RS485/CAN with the compatible SUN2000 inverters, is IP66 and operates from -20 to +55 °C with natural convection cooling, both indoors and outdoors.
