The SMA Sunny Tripower Smart Energy STP5.0-3SE-40 is a 5 kW three-phase hybrid inverter with 2 MPPT trackers and a photovoltaic array of up to 7,500 Wp. It combines a photovoltaic inverter and a battery inverter in a single unit: storage is high-voltage (150-600 V), with a maximum charging and discharging current of 30 A, charging power up to 7,500 W and discharging power up to 6,000 W.
It is designed for the three-phase backup function: during a grid outage it delivers 5,000 W rated with a peak of up to 6,000 W and switchover in less than 50 ms. Cooling is passive by convection, so the inverter is particularly quiet (30 dB(A)); the protection rating is IP65. Communication is via Wi-Fi, two Ethernet ports and CAN for the battery, with Modbus (SMA and SunSpec) and Speedwire/Webconnect protocols. CEI 0-21 certified.
