What it does
- In each department an air quality monitor measures PM2.5 and PM10 dust from 0 to 1,000 µg/m³, the TVOC index on a scale from 1 to 5, CO2 from 400 to 5,000 ppm, temperature, humidity and pressure, with one reading every 10 minutes.
- The sound level sensors record at the workstations the value in dB(A), the equivalent level Leq and the maximum Lmax of each interval: you can see in which hours and with which operations the noise rises.
- The temperature and humidity sensors follow the storage areas for wood, paints, semi-finished goods and packaging.
- The illuminance sensors measure the lux on the surface of the quality control benches and show the decline of the lamps over time.
- When the set thresholds are exceeded the notification is sent to your smartphone; the air monitors also have a traffic-light indicator and a buzzer in the department.
- The history of every quantity remains available with charts and export: it documents the trend over time and the effect of extraction, air changes and interventions, in support of audits and safety meetings.

How it is installed
Gateway. On a 35 mm DIN rail in a panel in a central position with respect to the departments, or on the wall. Powered via PoE from the network cable or via USB-C 5 V with the power adapter provided; it has no terminals for 24 V. The magnetic-base antenna goes outside the metal panel, vertical on a metal surface, high up and away from walls and obstacles. IP30, operating from -20 to +60 °C. Connection to the company network with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
Air quality monitors. On the wall or on a column, at least 1.5 m from the floor, in the area where people work. Away from doors, windows, vents, heat sources and strong draughts; not above the machine nor in front of the extraction intake, where direct dust dirties the sensor. Bracket with double-sided tape or anchors, plus an anti-theft screw. For a fixed installation it is best to power it at 5 V from the USB-C port. After switch-on the TVOC sensor takes 2 to 7 days to stabilise.
Sound level sensors. At the workstation, between 1.2 and 1.5 m from the floor, that is at the ear height of the person working. At least 1 m from walls and reflecting surfaces and about 1.5 m from doors and windows; not right up against the noise source. The microphone must remain free. Screws or double-sided tape on a flat surface.
Temperature, humidity and illuminance. Temperature and humidity sensors on the wall or on racking in the storage areas, with screws, double-sided tape or a cable tie, away from doors and heaters. Illuminance sensors: the measuring element rests on the bench surface with the round window facing upwards, in a spot that does not stay in shadow; the transmitter body is fixed to the wall or to the bench upright.
Configuration. Via NFC with a smartphone and the manufacturer's free app: reading intervals, thresholds, names of departments and workstations, A or C weighting of the sound level. The gateway is configured from a browser. No cables and no paid software are needed.
Documentation included. Written installation guide with heights, distances, position of the antenna and switch-on sequence, and initial configuration of intervals and thresholds based on the departments and the operations indicated when ordering.

Before you order
Is an internet connection needed in the department?
It is needed at the point where the gateway is installed: a socket of the company network or the Wi-Fi coverage. The sensors do not use Wi-Fi, they talk by radio with the gateway. If there is no network in the plant, or if you do not want to connect the system to the company network, the version with a 4G gateway is available, which requires a data SIM (not included, any operator, traffic below 1 GB per month). It is chosen when ordering.
Are the measurements valid for the risk assessment?
No, they complement it. Noise, dust and chemical agents are assessed with the instruments and methods prescribed by the regulations: certified sound level meters, personal sampling, laboratory analysis. These sensors have an accuracy of ±3 dB on noise and ±10 µg/m³ on dust up to 100 µg/m³, and for volatile organic compounds they give an index from 1 to 5, not a concentration. They provide what a one-off measurement does not give: the continuous trend, the critical hours and operations, the verification that extraction and air changes are working, the history to show in audits.
Can they be fitted in a paint booth or near the dust silos?
No. The devices are not ATEX certified and must not be installed in areas classified as explosion risk: paint booths, mixing rooms, silos and wood dust filters. They are installed in the department, outside the classified areas.
Do they cope with the dust and the humidity of the department?
The temperature and humidity sensors are IP67; in the illuminance sensors the transmitter body is IP67 and the measuring element IP65. Air monitors, noise sensors and gateway are IP30, for indoor use, operating from -20 to +60 °C: they go in a position sheltered from jets, chips and direct dust; the gateway goes in a panel. In very dusty departments the dust sensor requires a position away from the source.
Does one gateway cover the whole plant?
For this gateway the manufacturer declares up to 2 km in urban areas and 15 km in open field; inside a plant, walls, metal structures and machines count. With the gateway in a central position and the antenna outside the panel, high up, a building with several departments is normally covered. For several buildings or distant blocks a second gateway is added. One gateway manages hundreds of devices.
I have more than 3 departments or more noisy workstations
Among the product options you will find the 6-department size, with twice as many sensors. The kit is in any case configured on the plant: air monitors, noise sensors or illuminance sensors are added where they are needed, the gateway and the platform stay the same. Battery life
Illuminance sensors and temperature and humidity sensors: declared life up to 10 years with one reading every 10 minutes. Sound level sensors: about 5 years, about 1.7 years if continuous measurement with fast weighting is enabled. Air quality monitors: about a year and a half on batteries, because the dust sensor consumes power; for this reason it is best to power them at 5 V via USB-C, with an ordinary USB power supply. The batteries are lithium, replaceable, and the charge level is visible in the app.
Where is the data consulted and are there subscription fees?
On the manufacturer's app and portal, from smartphone and PC, with charts, thresholds and notifications; no fee for basic use. The history is exported for reports and audits. Where there is a supervision system or a business management system, the gateway can also send the data to that system (MQTT or HTTP): the configuration is included.
What happens if the internet is down?
The sensors keep measuring. The air quality monitors and the illuminance sensors keep the readings in their internal memory and retransmit them when the line is restored; the traffic-light indicator and the buzzer of the monitors work in the department in any case. The notifications on your smartphone are not sent until the line comes back.
Is an electrician needed?
Not for the sensors: they are battery-powered and are fixed with screws, double-sided tape or cable ties. The gateway must be mounted on a DIN rail in a panel and powered via PoE or USB-C: that is a job for an electrical maintenance technician. The same applies if you decide to bring a socket near the air monitors to power them from the mains.
