Pure sine wave is what anything with a motor or a transformer needs: compressor fridges, pumps, power tools, laptop supplies and medical devices. On a modified waveform these loads run hot, hum and sometimes will not start.
Sizing is about the peak: add up the simultaneous loads and add twice the rating of the largest motor.
