The SMA Home Storage HS-BM-3.28-10 module is a lithium iron phosphate storage battery of 3.2 kWh for PV systems with a hybrid inverter, in a low voltage configuration.
LiFePO4 chemistry contains no cobalt, copes well with temperature and offers a long cycle life: it is the standard of residential storage. The on-board BMS monitors voltage, current and temperature of every cell and talks to the inverter, which decides when to charge and when to discharge according to generation and consumption.
SMA Solar Technology is the German manufacturer that set many of the standards of the PV inverter: conservative electronics, mature firmware and a service network across Europe.
