What it does
- The Shelly EM, with the 50A clamp on the pump circuit, logs when it starts, how long it runs and how much energy it uses.
- A pump that keeps starting through the night points to a leak in the system or a problem with the expansion vessel; a pump that never starts points to a blockage.
- The Shelly Flood Gen4 sensor, with its sensing lead run along the floor, warns you as soon as there is water in the pump room.
- The Shelly Pro 1 switches the supply to the pump board through a contactor: the maintainer can shut it down and start it again remotely after a trip.
- In the app the building manager sees the run-time and consumption history and gets the notifications.

How it is installed
Network in the pump room. Pump rooms are often below ground and Wi-Fi struggles to reach them: the Pro 1 connects by cable with the included Cat6 leads, and the 10 m cable runs to the router or to a network point. The Shelly EM and the Flood Gen4 use Wi-Fi instead, so you need 2.4GHz coverage in the room, to be checked with a phone before installing.
Metering and control. The Shelly EM and the Pro 1 go in the 8-module BTicino enclosure included, next to the pump board. The clamp closes around one conductor of the pump circuit. The Pro 1 switches the coil of a contactor on the board's supply, not the motor directly. Work on 230V must be done by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated.
Sensor and wiring. The Flood Gen4 fixes to the wall, with the sensing cable laid on the floor at the lowest point of the room or near the sump. It runs on AA cells, as the manufacturer states. For the wiring in the enclosure use the crimp ferrules, and the included Wago 221-413 connectors for the joints.
App and setup. In the Shelly app, add the Shelly EM, Flood Gen4 and Pro 1 to the network and rename them. Check that the EM shows the current draw when the pump starts by opening a tap. Wet the Flood cable with a cloth to test the notification. Share access with the managing agent and the maintainer, according to who has to act.
Recommended automations. Set a notification if the sensor finds water, and an alert if the pump starts several times during the night or runs longer than usual. Set one too if the pump draws nothing for many hours during the day, which may mean it has seized. Remote restarting with the Pro 1 is for the maintenance engineer only, once the cause is understood.
Contents verified. The Shelly EM, the Flood Gen4 and the Pro 1 are managed in the same Shelly app and need no hub. The kit includes the 8-module BTicino surface enclosure for the DIN modules with ways spare, the crimp ferrules for wiring in the board, the Wago 221-413 connectors for the joints, the 1 m Cat6 cables for connections inside the board and the 10 m Cat6 cable to reach the router.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No: the Pro 1 connects by cable or Wi-Fi, the Shelly EM and the Flood Gen4 over Wi-Fi. Everything is managed with the Shelly app. You do need a connection in the pump room: if there is none, it can be brought in with the network cable included or with a repeater.
Does the Pro 1 reset the booster pump?
The Pro 1 does not reset tripped breakers: it removes and restores the supply to the pump's board through a contactor, which helps when the controller locks out and clears on a restart. If a protective device has tripped, someone still has to go on site.
The pump is three-phase: is that all right?
The Shelly EM meters a single-phase circuit: on a three-phase pump a clamp on one phase still shows starts, running times and changes in draw, but not the total consumption. Full metering needs a three-phase meter: get in touch through the contact page.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes. The metering and the switching go in the 230V board in the pump room: the connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated, following the manufacturer's diagram. The battery flood sensor goes on with no electrical work.
What happens if there is no internet?
The pump keeps working as it always has, because the kit does not change its controls. The Shelly EM keeps measuring and the modules stay reachable on the local network; notifications and remote control resume once the line is back.
Are batteries included?
The Flood Gen4 sensor runs on AA batteries; check the Amazon listing to see whether they come in the box. The Shelly EM and the Pro 1 are mains powered. The sensor's charge level shows in the app.
