InstallationThe POWR3 relay is wired at 230V: electrician's work. The sockets simply plug in.
What it does
- The Sonoff POWR3 relay switches the coffee machine on at the set time, before the staff arrive, and off after closing; it measures power and consumption.
- The Shelly Outdoor Plug S Gen3 IP44 socket, in an outdoor socket, switches the sign on and off to a schedule or at sunset.
- The Shelly Plug PM Gen3 socket never interrupts the supply to the drinks fridge: it only meters it, so you can see whether the compressor is working harder than usual.
- The apps show you at any time whether the machine is on, how much it is using and whether the sign has been left on overnight.
- The POWR3 can also be switched by hand, from the button on the device, for unscheduled closing days.

How it is installed
The Wi-Fi network in the premises. There is no hub: the relay and the sockets join the bar's Wi-Fi directly, so you need 2.4GHz coverage behind the counter and near the outdoor socket for the sign. Check the signal with your phone before installing. If the Wi-Fi is shared with customers, put the devices on a separate network.
The coffee machine relay. The POWR3 goes on the line feeding the machine, downstream of its protective device, and takes up to 25A according to Sonoff: check that the machine's power is within the limit and that it is single-phase. The 230V wiring is for a qualified electrician, with the supply isolated and cable sizes suited to the current.
Back box and sockets. There is water behind the counter: the relay goes in the IP65 QWORK watertight enclosure supplied, with the cables entering through the IP68 glands and the joints made with Wago 221-413 connectors. The IP44 outdoor socket plugs into the sign's socket, out of direct rain. The Plug PM Gen3 goes in the drinks fridge socket, with no work needed.
App and pairing. The POWR3 is added to the eWeLink app and joins the Wi-Fi; the two Shelly plugs are added to the Shelly app. Give each device a clear name, such as coffee machine, sign and drinks fridge. Switch the machine on from the app and check the metered consumption appears; do the same with the sign and the fridge.
Recommended automations. Set the machine to come on about an hour before opening, following the warm-up time the machine's manufacturer gives, and to go off after closing. The sign comes on at sunset and goes off at a set time. For the fridge, set an alert if daily consumption rises well above normal, a sign that the door seal or the condenser needs checking.
Contents verified. The POWR3 is managed in the eWeLink app and the two Shelly plugs in the Shelly app: they are all Wi-Fi devices and need no hub. The kit includes Wago 221-413 connectors for wiring the relay, the QWORK IP65 weatherproof enclosure to protect the module in a wet area or outdoors and IP68 cable glands for watertight cable entry.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No: the Sonoff POWR3 relay and the two Shelly plugs connect straight to the Wi-Fi on site. The relay is managed in the eWeLink app, the plugs in the Shelly app; good Wi-Fi coverage behind the counter and at the entrance is all you need.
Will it work with my coffee machine?
The POWR3 handles up to 25A according to the manufacturer and is single-phase. Check the machine's rating plate for power and supply: if it is three-phase or over the limit, it has to be switched through a contactor. Get in touch through our contact page with the machine's details.
Why does the fridge socket not switch off?
The Plug PM Gen3 in this kit only measures: the fridge stays powered at all times, with no risk of it being switched off from the app by mistake. It is there to show what it uses over time and to catch a fault early.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes, for the POWR3 relay, which goes in the machine's 230V supply: the connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated. The two Shelly sockets, on the other hand, plug into existing sockets with no tools.
Does it work with Alexa or Google Home?
Both eWeLink and the Shelly app integrate with Alexa and Google Home, as the manufacturers state. For schedules and consumption it is better to use the manufacturers' own apps, where the weekly programmes are set.
What happens if there is no internet?
The schedules set on the devices can keep running locally and the relay can also be operated with the button on the module. Remote control and notifications are missing until the line comes back; check that the programmes are stored on the devices.
Can I add more loads?
Yes: you can add more Sonoff relays or Shelly sockets, for refrigerated cabinets, the lights of the outside seating or a water heater for example. Get in touch through the contact page with a list of the circuits and we will tell you what to add.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
