What it does
- The four Shelly 1PM Mini Gen3 units switch up to four circuits in the room, for example the main light, the bedside lights, the desk socket and the kettle socket, and meter what each one draws.
- The bedroom switches stay in use: each module is wired to its own existing switch.
- The Shelly BLU Door/Window contact on the French door talks over Bluetooth to the Shelly Gen3 modules, which bridge it to the network: no hub is needed.
- The Shelly H&T Gen3 sensor measures the room's temperature and humidity and sends them to the app over Wi-Fi.
- In the Shelly app you can see which circuits are on, how much they are drawing and whether the French door has been left open, and you can switch everything off at check-out.

How it is installed
The hotel Wi-Fi network. There is no hub: the Shelly modules join the property's Wi-Fi directly, so each room needs good 2.4GHz coverage. Before installing, check the signal near the switches with your phone. If the hotel has a separate guest network, put the devices on a dedicated network rather than the one guests use.
Modules behind the switches. Each Shelly 1PM Mini Gen3 goes in the box behind the switch of the circuit it has to control, with live, neutral, output to the load and the switch input. The 230V wiring must be done by a qualified person, with the supply isolated, following the Shelly diagram. Keep to the module's maximum current as given by the manufacturer for each load.
Accessories and sensors. The joints are made with the Wago 221-413 connectors included. If the module will not fit behind the switch insert, use a deep 503 box or, failing that, the Gewiss junction box. The BLU contact is stuck to the French door frame with the magnet on the leaf. The H&T Gen3 sensor runs on the four AA lithium cells included in the kit, because the box does not contain any.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app, add the four modules to the Wi-Fi one at a time and rename them after the room and the circuit. The H&T sensor is added the same way. The BLU contact pairs with one of the Gen3 modules, which picks it up over Bluetooth and brings it into the app. Check that consumption shows on every circuit by switching the loads on.
Recommended automations. Set up a general shut-down scene to use at check-out or from reception. Set a notification if the French door is left open for more than ten minutes with the air conditioning on, and an alert if the room temperature goes above your summer threshold or drops too low in winter. You can schedule the sockets to switch off overnight.
Contents verified. The four Shelly 1PM Mini Gen3 units also act as a Bluetooth bridge for Shelly BLU devices, which is why the contact on the French door works without a hub; everything is managed in the same Shelly app. The kit includes Wago 221-413 connectors for wiring the modules, the optional deep 503 boxes if a module will not fit behind the switch, the Gewiss enclosure as an alternative, and the AA lithium cells for the H&T, which are not in its own box.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. The Shelly modules connect straight to the Wi-Fi and the Gen3 devices also bridge the Shelly BLU Bluetooth sensors. All you need is good Wi-Fi coverage in the room, ideally on a dedicated device network kept separate from the guest one.
Does it work with Alexa or Google Home?
The kit runs from the Shelly app, which also integrates with Alexa and Google Home as the manufacturer describes. In a hotel it usually works best to use the Shelly app from reception and leave guests with ordinary switches.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes. The 1PM Mini modules wire into 230V behind the switches, with live and neutral: the work must be done by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated, following the manufacturer's diagram. The sensors, on the other hand, go on with no tools.
What happens if there is no internet?
The switches carry on controlling lights and sockets. The modules stay reachable on the local network and actions set on the devices can run without the cloud; what you lose is control from off site and notifications, until the line comes back.
Are batteries included?
For the H&T Gen3 sensor, yes: the kit includes four AA lithium cells, because the sensor's own box does not have them. The BLU contact uses a CR2032 button cell; check on the Amazon listing whether it is already in the box.
Can I add more bedrooms?
Yes: each extra room needs its own modules and sensors, all in the same Shelly app, organised by room. Above a certain number of devices it is worth checking the Wi-Fi network's capacity: get in touch through the contact page for the right configuration.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
