What it does
- Home Assistant Green runs the motorhome's devices, data and automations locally, without depending on the manufacturers' clouds.
- The Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 adapter adds the Zigbee and Thread radio for compatible sensors and modules.
- The 4G router with a SIM creates the on-board network and puts Home Assistant online for remote control.
- The two Shelly BLU H&T ZB sensors read temperature and humidity, for example in the cabin and the sleeping area, and pair over Zigbee.
- Charts, history and notifications are in the Home Assistant app, with automations written to measure.
- The base is ready for adding battery voltage, water levels, lights, pump and intruder alarm.

How it is installed
Power supply and router. The RUT241 router and Home Assistant Green run on DC: they are wired to the 12V service circuit with a dedicated fuse each, observing the polarity and the voltage range the manufacturers give. The router goes in an overhead locker with its antennas clear; a data SIM, not included, goes in and the Wi-Fi network is set up.
Home Assistant Green. The Green goes in the same locker as the router and connects to its LAN port with a network cable. You power it up and set it up from a browser or the Home Assistant app, following the initial steps: creating the user, the location and the updates. It is worth doing this part at home, unhurried, before fitting everything on board.
ZBT-2 adapter. The ZBT-2 adapter plugs into a USB port on the Green, ideally on a USB extension lead to keep it away from the box and the router and cut interference. Home Assistant recognises it and offers to set it up for Zigbee or Thread. The two BLU H&T ZB sensors pair over Zigbee through the adapter.
App and pairing. In Home Assistant you enable the Zigbee integration on the adapter, put the sensors into pairing mode following the Shelly instructions and add them one at a time. Rename them by location and add them to a dashboard with temperature, humidity and router status. For remote access, set up the secure method Home Assistant provides.
Recommended automations. A notification on your phone for too high a temperature in the cab, which matters with animals on board, and one for high humidity, which points to condensation. As you add more devices, Home Assistant can combine battery voltage, lights and pump into automations that run locally, without internet too.
Contents verified. Home Assistant Green and the Connect ZBT-2 adapter are designed to work together; the ZB version of the Shelly BLU H&T sensors pairs over Zigbee through the adapter. The 4G router provides the local network and remote access. The kit has no accessories: the 12V connections are made with cables and fuses suited to the vehicle's system, which are not included.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
The hub is Home Assistant Green, included, with the ZBT-2 adapter for the Zigbee and Thread radio. The 4G router included builds the on-board network and puts everything online with a data SIM.
Does it work without internet?
Yes: Home Assistant works locally, so devices, history and automations keep running even with no connection. The internet is needed for notifications and for control when you are away from the motorhome, and for updates.
Do you need an electrician?
It is a job for a confident DIYer: the router and the Green are wired to the 12V circuit with their own fuses and the right polarity. If you are not at home with the vehicle's wiring, have a motorhome fitter do it.
Can I power it straight from the battery?
Battery voltage varies while charging and discharging. Check the permitted voltages given by the makers of the Green and of the router; if your battery goes above them while charging, a regulated DC-DC converter is needed, not included.
Does it work with Alexa, Google and Apple?
Home Assistant has integrations for Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home, set up in the settings. In a motorhome the Home Assistant app is the one to use: it does not rely on other services and works even where mobile coverage is poor.
Are batteries included?
The two BLU H&T ZB sensors each take a CR2032 cell; what is supplied is whatever the item's Amazon listing states. The charge level shows in Home Assistant, where you can set an alert for when it drops below a threshold.
Can I add devices?
Yes, and that is the whole point of this kit: Zigbee and Thread sensors and modules, Shelly devices over Wi-Fi, Matter products. Home Assistant brings them together in one app and into shared automations.
