What it does
- The 4G router with a data SIM creates the on-board Wi-Fi and puts the motorhome online wherever there is mobile coverage.
- The two BLU H&T sensors read temperature and humidity, for example in the cab and the sleeping area, or in the luggage locker.
- The two BLU contacts on the entry door and the locker report every opening with a notification.
- The BLU gateway in the 12V USB socket collects the sensors' Bluetooth data and sends it to the network.
- The app history shows how temperature and humidity change while the vehicle is parked up, useful too for condensation and pets on board.
- The router's Wi-Fi also serves phones and tablets while you travel.

How it is installed
4G router. The RUT241 runs on DC and can be connected to the motorhome's 12V service installation, with a dedicated fuse on the line and a switch if you want to turn it off on long stops. It goes in a locker or under a seat, away from heat sources, with the antennas clear. You fit a data SIM, not included, and set up the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
USB socket and gateway. The flush USB socket is fitted to a panel or a unit and wired to the 12V line with its own fuse, polarity observed. The BLU USB gateway plugs into it and connects to the router's Wi-Fi. A central position in the motorhome helps it pick up all the sensors.
Sensors and contacts. The two BLU H&T sensors go one in the cab and one in the sleeping area or the locker, away from sunlit windows and the heater. The BLU contacts fit on the frame and leaf of the entry door and the locker, with the two parts close together and aligned when the door is shut. They stick on with the double-sided tape in the box.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app you add the BLU gateway, then pair the two sensors and the two contacts one at a time, keeping them near the gateway. Rename them by position, “Cabin”, “Sleeping area”, “Front door” and “Locker” for example, and check the openings reach the app.
Recommended automations. A notification for every door or locker opening while the motorhome is parked up, armed with a timed scene or by hand. An alert for too high a temperature in the cab, which matters with animals on board, and one for high humidity, which points to condensation. Over the winter storage months an occasional look at the history is enough.
Contents verified. Gateway, sensors and contacts are from the Shelly BLU range and run in the same app; the 4G router provides the Wi-Fi network the gateway joins. Included are the flush-mounted 12V USB socket, to power the USB gateway from the motorhome's system, and, as an option, 10 spare CR2032 batteries for the four sensors.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
You need the Shelly BLU gateway, included, which collects the data from the Bluetooth sensors. The gateway connects to the Wi-Fi of the 4G router, also included, which takes everything online with a data SIM.
Do you need a SIM?
Yes, a data SIM from any network, not included. For sensors and notifications the traffic is small; if you also use the router's Wi-Fi for phones and tablets while travelling, pick a plan with a bigger allowance.
Do you need an electrician?
It is a job for a confident DIYer: the router and the USB socket are wired to the motorhome's 12V system, with their own fuse and the right polarity. If you are not at home with the vehicle's wiring, have a fitter or a motorhome workshop do it.
Will the router flatten the battery?
The router stays on all the time and draws current from the leisure battery. On long stops with no mains hook-up or solar panel, fit a switch on the circuit or keep an eye on the state of charge. Get in touch through the contact page if you want to add the battery monitor.
What happens if there is no mobile signal?
The sensors keep working and the gateway stays up on the router's Wi-Fi. Notifications and remote readings come through again when mobile coverage returns. The sensor history then lets you reconstruct what happened in the meantime.
Are batteries included?
The sensors and the contacts each use one CR2032 cell; the kit includes, as an option, 10 spare CR2032 cells, enough for several changes. The charge level is shown in the Shelly app, which warns you when it is time to replace them.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more BLU sensors, a motion sensor, a button, Shelly modules for lights and the pump or for the battery voltage. It all goes into the same app and onto the same router network.
