What it does
- When one of the four windows with a T1 sensor is left open, the G3 sends the air conditioner the off command by infrared, just as the remote would.
- In winter the same opening closes the two E1 thermostatic heads on the radiators; when the window is shut they go back to the set temperature.
- The E1 heads let you set a maximum temperature and operating hours, so the guest does not leave the radiators flat out all day.
- The G3 also works as a 2K camera for the room it is installed in, recording to the microSD included: to be used only when the house is empty or in areas the guests do not use.
- In the app you see the state of the windows and the radiators and get a notification if a window is left open for a long time.

How it is installed
Camera-hub. The G3 goes in the room with the air conditioner, on a unit or on the wall, facing the indoor unit with nothing in between: the infrared command has to reach it like the one from the remote. Fit the microSD included, power it as the manufacturer advises and connect it to the home Wi-Fi from the Aqara Home app. It is also the hub that the sensors and the thermostatic heads pair with.
Sensors on the windows. The four T1 sensors stick with double-sided tape to the fixed frame of the windows the guest opens most, with the magnet on the opening leaf, aligned and a few millimetres away. Clean the surfaces before sticking them down and test the opening: in the app the sensor has to go from closed to open as soon as the leaf moves a few centimetres.
Thermostatic heads. The E1 heads fit on the radiator valve in place of the manual knob, with the adapter that suits the valve body, following the Aqara instructions. Put the AA cells in, screw them onto the valve and run the travel calibration from the app. Check first that the radiator has a valve made for a thermostatic head and not a plain manual valve.
App and pairing. In the Aqara Home app add the G3, then pair the T1 sensors and the E1 heads to it with the setup wizard. For the air conditioner pick the make from the virtual remote's list and try switching it on and off: if your model is not there, the G3 can learn the keys straight from the original remote. Rename every window and radiator.
Recommended automations. Set up an automation: if any of the windows stays open for more than a minute, switch the air conditioning off and close the radiator valves. A second one brings the radiators back to the set temperature once all the windows are shut. Add a temperature limit on the E1 heads, a lower setting overnight and a notification if a window is left open for more than an hour.
Contents verified. The G3 camera-hub, the T1 door/window sensors and the E1 thermostatic heads are Aqara devices that pair to the G3 and are run from the same Aqara Home app. The kit includes a SanDisk High Endurance microSD, one per camera, to record the G3's video locally.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes, and it is the G3 camera itself: as well as filming, it acts as the hub for the window sensors and the thermostatic heads and sends the infrared commands to the air conditioner. Nothing else needs buying, the house Wi-Fi is enough.
Does it work with any air conditioner?
It works with air conditioners controlled by an infrared remote, which covers the vast majority of split units. The G3 has a list of brands and, if your model is missing, it can learn the buttons from the original remote. It does not work with units controlled only by an app or a wired controller.
Does it work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home?
Automations with the windows are created in the Aqara Home app, which is where the whole kit is managed. Aqara also supports Apple Home and other assistants for various devices, where the manufacturer says so; for what is intended here the Aqara app is enough.
Do you need an electrician?
No. There is no 230V wiring: the G3 plugs into a socket, the sensors and the thermostatic heads run on batteries. You only need to check that the radiator valves will take a thermostatic head and to fit the right adapter.
What happens if there is no internet?
Automations between the Aqara devices paired to the G3 can run locally on the hub, so windows, thermostatic heads and the air conditioner carry on talking to each other. Without the line you get no notifications and cannot control anything remotely until the connection is back.
Are batteries included?
The T1 sensors and the E1 thermostatic heads run on batteries; the E1 units use AA cells. Check each product's Amazon listing to see whether the first set is in the box. The G3, on the other hand, runs off the mains.
Can I add more rooms?
Yes: you can pair more window sensors and more E1 heads to the G3. A second air conditioner in another room needs its own infrared control in that room, because infrared does not go through walls. Get in touch through the contact page.
