What it does
- Each of the two Shelly Pro 2 units has two channels: together they drive four contactors, one per lighting zone.
- The Shelly i4 Gen3 reads up to four department push-buttons and, over the network, switches the matching zone on or off.
- At the end of the shift the zones switch off on a timer; anyone still on the floor switches their own zone back on with the push-button.
- The DIN-rail Shelly LAN switch wires the two Pro 2 units to the company router.
- In the app you see which zones are on and can switch them all off with one command, off site too.

How it is installed
Network and board. The two Pro 2 join the network over Ethernet: the DIN-rail Shelly LAN switch takes the 1 m cables included and carries a single link to the router with the 10 m Cat6 cable. The Shelly i4 Gen3 uses Wi-Fi instead, so wherever it goes needs 2.4GHz coverage. If the lighting board has no room on the DIN rail, use the BTicino 8-module enclosure included.
Contactor switching. Each Pro 2 channel switches a zone's contactor coil, not the lamps directly: the lighting lines stay on the existing contactors. The 230V wiring must be done by a qualified person, with the supply isolated, following the Shelly diagram and the coil data. If the contactors are impulse or maintained-command types, the channel is configured to suit.
Buttons and wiring. The Shelly i4 Gen3 runs on 230V and has four inputs for the department push-buttons, existing or new, following the manufacturer's diagram. It can sit in the board or in a box near the buttons. Crimp ferrules are used for wiring inside the board, the Wago 221-413 connectors supplied for the joints.
App and setup. In the Shelly app, add the two Pro 2 and the i4 Gen3, rename the four channels after the zones and test every contactor from the app. On the i4, set the actions: one press switches the matching zone on the Pro 2 on or off. Check that each button drives the right zone before handing the installation over.
Recommended automations. Set every zone to switch off at the end of the shift and during long breaks, with the option of switching back on from the buttons. You can bring on just the circulation areas when the unit opens and leave the rest to the department buttons. An evening notification tells you if a zone has been left on after closing.
Contents verified. The Shelly Pro 2, the Shelly i4 Gen3 and the Shelly LAN switch are managed in the same Shelly app and talk to each other over the local network. The kit includes the Wago 221-413 connectors for the modules' joints, the 8-module BTicino surface enclosure for the DIN modules with ways spare, the crimp ferrules for wiring in the board, the DIN-rail network switch, five 1 m Cat6 cables and one 10 m Cat6 cable for the link to the router.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No: the Pro 2 units connect to the company network by cable through the switch included, the i4 Gen3 over Wi-Fi. Everything is managed with the Shelly app and the devices' web interface, with no extra gateways.
Why switch the contactors and not the lamps?
The lighting circuits in an industrial unit draw heavy currents and are already run by contactors in the board. The Pro 2 units drive the coil, which draws very little: the lamps stay wired as they are today and the power side of the installation does not change.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes. The Pro 2, the i4 Gen3 and the wiring to the contactor coils are all at 230V inside the board: the work must be done by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated, to the manufacturer's diagram.
Does it work with Alexa, Google Home or other systems?
The devices run from the Shelly app, which also offers integration with Alexa and Google Home as the manufacturer describes. On business sites, Shelly devices can also send data to supervisory systems on the local network: ask your own engineer or get in touch via the contact page.
What happens if there is no internet?
The actions between the i4's buttons and the Pro 2 units travel over the local network, so they carry on working without internet, as do the schedules saved on the devices. All you lose is control from off site and the notifications.
Can I add more zones?
Yes: each extra Pro 2 adds two zones and another i4 adds four more buttons. The switch has free ports. Get in touch through the contact page with the number of zones and the lighting board diagram.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
