What it does
- The Sonoff Hydro DUO timer screws onto the tap and has two independent outlets: one for the vegetable patch, one for the lawn.
- Each output has its own times and duration, for example long runs on the drippers for the vegetable patch and a short one on the lawn sprinkler.
- The two Sonoff MS01 sensors measure soil moisture in each zone.
- If one zone is already wet, its slot is skipped while the other is watered as normal.
- You can open either of the two zones by hand from the app, even when you are away.

How it is installed
Bridge and network. The ZB Bridge Pro joins the home 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and goes indoors, as close to the garden as possible, powered by a USB supply. If the vegetable patch and the lawn are far from the house, test the signal where the sensors will go before laying them out: thick walls and distance cut the Zigbee range.
Two-outlet timer. The Hydro DUO timer screws onto the outside tap, with an adapter to suit the thread if needed. A hose goes to each of the two outlets: one to the drip line in the vegetable patch, the other to the lawn sprinkler. The tap stays open and the timer runs the two zones. Fit the AA cells as the manufacturer specifies.
Soil sensors. One MS01 sensor per zone, pushed vertically into the soil near the roots as far as the mark the manufacturer shows, with the electronics above ground. In the lawn it goes in a representative spot, not under the direct spray of the sprinkler; in the vegetable patch between the plants, not under a dripper. The kit has nothing to wire.
App and pairing. Install eWeLink, add the bridge and pair the timer and the sensors one at a time, holding the button down until the LED flashes. Rename the two outlets and the two sensors after their zone, “vegetable patch” and “lawn”, so the scenes read clearly. Run a test cycle for each zone.
Recommended automations. Vegetable patch: a long run early in the morning. Lawn: a short run at dawn, every other day. A scene for each zone: if its sensor is above the moisture threshold at run time, that run does not start. Very dry soil in summer: notification. After a few weeks, adjust thresholds and durations by looking at the graphs.
Contents verified. The Hydro DUO timer and the two MS01 sensors are Sonoff Zigbee units and pair to the ZB Bridge Pro included, in the same eWeLink app where each sensor can gate its own timer outlet. The kit needs no accessories: a tap timer and battery sensors.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
Yes: the Sonoff Zigbee devices talk to the ZB Bridge Pro included in the kit, which links them to the home 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and to the eWeLink app. Without the bridge, the timer and the sensors cannot be controlled from the app.
Does it work with Alexa and Google?
Yes, through the eWeLink app: you link the account to the Alexa skill or to the Google Home app and can start the watering or ask for the status by voice. With Apple Home there is no direct integration we can guarantee for every item in the kit.
Do you need an electrician?
No. The timer screws onto the tap, the sensors push into the soil and the bridge runs off a USB power supply indoors. No electrical work and nothing to change on the water system.
Can the two zones water at the same time?
Each output is programmed independently. It is better, though, to run the zones one after the other: with a single tap the pressure is shared, and the lawn sprinkler may not reach its rated throw while the vegetable patch is running as well.
What happens if there is no internet?
With no internet you cannot control the timer from outside and you get no notifications. Check in the app how the scheduled runs behave without a connection: some schedules may stay active, as the manufacturer states. When the line comes back everything resumes.
Are batteries included?
The Hydro DUO timer runs on AA cells and the MS01 sensors on batteries: the type, and whether they come in the box, is stated by the manufacturer on the Amazon listing. The charge level shows in eWeLink; check it at the start of the season.
Can I add devices?
Yes: more soil sensors, a second timer for another tap or an outdoor temperature and humidity sensor. The bridge handles plenty of Sonoff Zigbee devices in the same app.
What do I need to do in winter?
Before the frost, take the timer off the tap, drain it and store it indoors with the hoses, as you would with any tap timer. The soil sensor can stay in the ground within the limits the manufacturer gives, or come in and go back out in spring.
What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?
