Sonoff workshop kit: CO2, PM2.5 dust and extraction control

For craft workshops where the air fills with dust or gets heavy. The Sonoff AirGuard monitor measures CO2, the PM2.5/PM10 monitor measures fine dust, and the 16A MINI ONE Zigbee relay switches the extraction on when one of the readings goes above the threshold. Readings, history and scenes in the eWeLink app, with the hub included.

Who it is forCraft workshops, joineries, tailors' shops and small enclosed departments.
What you measureCO2 and PM2.5 and PM10 particulates in the workshop air.
What you switchThe extractor or the extract fan, switched on automatically above the threshold.
InstallationA 230V relay on the extractor circuit: wiring by an electrician.

What it does

  • The Sonoff AirGuard monitor measures the CO2 concentration: it rises when the room is closed and occupied, and shows that fresh air is needed.
  • The PM2.5/PM10 monitor picks up the fine dust from sanding, cutting and similar work.
  • The MINI ONE Zigbee relay starts the extractor or the extraction system when CO2 or particulates go over the threshold and stops it when the readings are back to normal.
  • The Sonoff ZB Bridge Pro hub connects the Zigbee relay to the eWeLink app, where the two monitors appear as well.
  • The history shows which hours and which operations make the air worse.
For larger premises, more measuring points or three-phase extraction fans, get in touch through the contact page: we will suggest the right configuration.

How it is installed

Hub and network. The Sonoff ZB Bridge Pro hub goes in the office or in a clean part of the workshop, near the router, connected to Wi-Fi and to the eWeLink app: it is needed for the Zigbee relay. The two air monitors appear in the same app. Check that there is 2.4GHz Wi-Fi coverage in the workshop where the monitors are going.
Air quality monitor. The CO2 monitor goes on the wall or on a shelf at about 1.5 m, away from doors, windows and the extractor outlet, where the air is not representative. The particulate monitor goes in the work area but not in the direct stream of chips, so it does not get dirty. Both are powered as the manufacturer specifies.
The relay and the wiring. The MINI ONE wires into the extractor's supply, live and neutral, within the 16A maximum and the manufacturer's notes for motors. For powerful or three-phase extractors, have it drive a contactor. The 230V wiring is for a qualified electrician, with the supply isolated; joints with the Wago 221-413 connectors, the module in a deep 503 box or in the Gewiss enclosure.
App and pairing. In the eWeLink app you pair the MINI ONE to the hub with the setup wizard and add the two monitors following each one's instructions. Rename everything after the workshop. Switch the extractor on from the app to check the control works and see that the monitors show steady readings with the workshop shut and empty.
Recommended automations. Set up two scenes: if CO2 goes above, say, 1,000ppm, switch the extractor fan on; if PM2.5 goes above the threshold you have chosen during work, do the same. A third scene switches it off when both readings drop back below the threshold, with a delay to stop it cycling. Add a notification if the readings stay high for a long time.
Contents verified. The ZB Bridge Pro hub, the MINI ONE Zigbee relay and the two Sonoff air monitors run in the same eWeLink app, where the monitor readings can drive the relay through scenes. The kit includes the Wago 221-413 connectors for wiring the module, the optional deep 503 back boxes if the module will not fit behind the switch insert, and the Gewiss junction box as an alternative.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

Yes, for the MINI ONE relay, which is Zigbee: the Sonoff ZB Bridge Pro hub is included. The two air monitors appear in the same eWeLink app, where you build the scenes that tie the readings to switching the extractor fan on.

Does it replace the safety extraction system?

No. The kit helps keep the air clean during ordinary work, but it does not replace the local extraction systems, protective equipment and assessments required for dust or hazardous substances. For those, refer to your safety consultant.

Do you need an electrician?

Yes, for the relay: it wires into 230V on the extractor fan circuit. The connections must be made by qualified personnel, with the installation isolated, following the manufacturer's diagram. The hub and the monitor go up with no electrical work.

Does it work with Alexa or Google Home?

The eWeLink app offers integration with Alexa and Google Home as the manufacturer states. For the thresholds and the scenes that drive the extractor it is better to work directly in eWeLink, where the readings from the two monitors and the history can also be seen.

What happens if there is no internet?

The extractor can always be switched on from its own switch or from the relay's push-button. Scenes that depend on the monitors, and the notifications, can stop without a line, depending on the local functions of the eWeLink app: check how it behaves once the connection is back.

Can I add more measuring points?

Yes: you can add more monitors and more relays in the same app, for a second department or a spray booth for example. Get in touch through the contact page with a plan of the workshop.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

An item can sell out or change version. Get in touch through the contact page quoting the kit code: we will point you to an alternative that works with the other devices and with the same app, so you keep a combination we have checked and you do not have to go back over anything yourself.

Why buy on Amazon?

Purchase, payment, delivery, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon, as with any other order: delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon when you buy. The kit is our own work: we picked parts that work together, plus the accessories needed to fit them.
