What it does
- Each Shelly Plus RGBW PM handles four channels: four dimmable white light lines or one RGBW strip, with consumption metering.
- The Shelly Plus i4 DC reads up to four push-buttons already fitted on board and turns them into commands: on, off, dim, call up a scene.
- The two BLU Button Tough buttons are battery-powered and wireless: one in the cockpit and one by the berth, for example, to switch everything off without getting up.
- In the Shelly app you build scenes such as "night", with low light in the cabin, or "all off" when you leave the boat.
- On a schedule the cockpit lights come on at sunset and go off at a set time, even when you are on the mooring.
- The lights' consumption shows in the app: useful for seeing how much they cost the service batteries.

How it is installed
The on-board Wi-Fi network. The Shelly modules are Wi-Fi and need no hub, but you do need a network on board: a boat router, a 4G router or the marina network when you are in port. The router is not included. On the local network alone, with no internet, the buttons carry on working; the app from a distance needs the connection.
LED controller. The two Shelly Plus RGBW PM units go in the IP65 weatherproof enclosure, near the boat's switch panel, fed at 12 or 24V through a dedicated fuse. Each module takes up to four white lighting circuits, or one RGBW strip, wired to the manufacturer's diagram. The wiring is a job for a qualified electrician, with the batteries disconnected.
Buttons and wiring. The Shelly Plus i4 DC wires to the existing push-buttons on board and runs off the 12/24V system too, on its own fuse. The cables enter the box through the watertight glands; the joints are made with Wago lever connectors, so they stay easy to inspect and stand up to vibration.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app add the three modules to the on-board Wi-Fi and name every channel: “cabin”, “cockpit”, “courtesy”. Then you pair the two BLU Button Tough buttons, which talk to the Shelly Plus modules over Bluetooth, and assign each key the action you want.
Recommended automations. A “night” scene with low light in the cabin, called up from the BLU button by the berth. An “everything off” scene on the cockpit button, to press as you step ashore. A sunset schedule for the cockpit lights, and an alert if consumption stays high with nobody aboard.
Contents verified. The two Plus RGBW PM controllers, the Shelly Plus i4 DC and the BLU Button Tough buttons all belong to the same Shelly ecosystem and work in one app, with no hub. The kit includes Wago 221-413 connectors for wiring the modules, the IP65 weatherproof enclosure to keep the modules on board safe from water and vibration, and IP68 cable glands for watertight cable entry.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. The Shelly modules connect straight to the on-board Wi-Fi and the BLU buttons talk over Bluetooth to the Shelly Plus modules. You do need a Wi-Fi network on board: an on-board or 4G router, or the marina Wi-Fi. The router is not part of the kit.
Does it work with Alexa and Google?
Yes, with the Shelly skill for Alexa and the Shelly integration in Google Home: you switch the lights on and off and dim them by voice, as long as you have a smart speaker and an internet connection on board. The modules also work in Home Assistant.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes. The modules wire into the 12/24V on-board system, each with its own fuse, and to the existing lights and push-buttons. It is a job for a marine electrician or other qualified personnel, done with the batteries disconnected and following the manufacturer's diagram.
What happens if there is no internet?
If the on-board Wi-Fi stays up, the push-buttons and the scenes keep working locally. Without internet you lose the app from a distance and the voice commands. If the router goes off altogether, the BLU buttons and the wired push-buttons are still connected to the modules.
Can I add more lights?
Yes. Each RGBW PM has four channels: if you do not use them all, you already have room to grow. For further zones add another Shelly module or more BLU buttons, which appear in the same app. For deck lighting or other loads get in touch through the contact page.
Are batteries included?
The BLU Button Tough buttons are battery-powered: what comes as standard is stated on the product's Amazon listing. The Shelly Plus modules have no batteries; they run off the 12/24V on-board supply.
