What it does
- Each Shelly Plus Uni reads one battery's voltage: the leisure and the engine battery, for example.
- The two Shelly Plus 1 units, powered at 12V, switch the water pump and the water heater with their contact.
- In the app you see the battery voltage in real time and how it behaves while the vehicle is parked up.
- Below a minimum voltage a warning comes through and a rule can switch off the non-essential loads.
- The pump can be run only when it is needed, and the water heater only before a shower, to save energy.
- The Plus Uni inputs can also read contacts or float switches, if you want to extend the monitoring.

How it is installed
Wi-Fi on board. The app needs a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network in the vehicle: a 4G router, a fixed hotspot or your phone as a hotspot, none of which are included. With no router on board you can only read the values when you are nearby. Decide beforehand which batteries to measure and which loads to control, and note down the circuits you will be working on.
Plus Uni and voltage reading. Each Plus Uni is powered at 12V and connects to the voltage measuring input for the battery to be monitored, following the manufacturer's diagram, with a dedicated fuse close to the positive terminal. The wiring must be done with the system disconnected, by someone who knows the vehicle's electrics, using cable of an adequate cross-section.
Plus 1 and loads. The two Plus 1 run on 12V and their contacts go into the pump and water heater circuits, within the DC current limits the manufacturer states; for heavier loads the Plus 1 drives an automotive relay. All the modules go in the IP65 enclosure, with Wago connectors and IP68 glands.
App and pairing. In the Shelly app you add the four modules to the on-board network. In the Plus Uni units you turn on voltage measurement and compare the figure with a tester; in the Plus 1 units you rename the outputs, “Water pump” and “Water heater” for example. Try every command from the app before closing the box.
Recommended automations. A notification when the leisure battery voltage drops below the threshold you choose and a rule that switches the water heater or the pump off below a lower threshold, to keep the battery from going flat. A timer stops the pump after a few minutes if it is left running by mistake. The thresholds are set to suit the type of battery.
Contents verified. The Plus Uni and the Plus 1 are from the Shelly range, run on 12V and share the same app. Included are the Wago lever connectors for wiring the modules, the 200×155 mm IP65 enclosure to keep the four modules on board safe from water and vibration, and the IP68 cable glands for watertight cable entry.

Before you order
Do you need a hub?
No. The modules use the on-board Wi-Fi and are managed in the Shelly app. You do need a Wi-Fi network in the vehicle, from a 4G router or a hotspot, not included. To check the readings from a distance you need a 4G router with a SIM.
Does it measure state of charge?
The Plus Uni measures battery voltage, which gives an indication of the state of charge, above all at rest. It is not a shunt monitor counting the amp-hours in and out. The thresholds have to be chosen for the type of battery, lead-acid or lithium.
Do you need an electrician?
Yes, or a motorhome fitter: the modules wire into the vehicle's 12V system with a dedicated fuse, the correct polarity and cables of the right cross-section. The connections must be made with the system disconnected.
Can I switch a 230V water heater?
The Plus 1 has a contact that can also switch 230V loads when the motorhome is on a hook-up, but in that case the 230V wiring is for a qualified electrician with the supply isolated. For gas water heaters, the ignition is switched at 12V.
What happens without internet?
The modules work on the on-board network even without internet: rules and app commands near the vehicle stay live. Internet is only needed for notifications and control from away, with a 4G router on board.
Are batteries needed?
No: all the modules run off the motorhome battery and draw little. There are no batteries to replace, but the modules stay powered all the time: on long stops, allow for that in your energy budget.
Can I add devices?
Yes: BLU temperature and opening sensors, modules for the LED lighting, a 4G router for remote control, more relays for fans or USB sockets. It all goes into the same Shelly app.
