Circuit monitoring kit with Home Assistant, main and 3 lines

Home Assistant Green collects locally the readings from the Shelly Pro 3EM-3CT63, which reads the main incomer and the phases with three 63A clamps, and from three Sonoff MINI-1GSP relays metering the circuits you want to follow. Everything lands in the Home Assistant Energy dashboard, with graphs, comparisons and automations even without internet.

Who it's forFor anyone who wants a complete energy dashboard, local and with no subscription.
What you measureThe main incomer per phase plus three circuits, with history in Home Assistant.
How you control itHome Assistant dashboard from browser and app, with local automations.
InstallationElectrician needed for the consumer unit and the relays; Home Assistant Green connects to the router by cable.

What it does

  • The Shelly Pro 3EM-3CT63 uses three 63A clamps to measure power and energy on each phase, or on the single phase of a single-phase installation.
  • The three MINI-1GSP measure the consumption of the circuits they are fitted on, for example the kitchen, the laundry and the air conditioning, and switch them on or off.
  • Home Assistant Green receives the readings over the home network and shows them in the Energy dashboard, with graphs by hour, day and month.
  • The panel compares the total with the individual circuits and shows the share of consumption that is not yet metered.
  • The automations run locally: switch off a circuit above a threshold, get a notification, set the schedules.
  • With a solar system, the same panel can show generation and export by adding the inverter's readings.
For more circuits, to add solar and storage to the Energy dashboard or for an initial Home Assistant setup, write to us from the contacts section.

1Home Assistant Green next to the router, connected by network cable: it collects the readings and runs dashboards and automations locally.
2Shelly Pro 3EM-3CT63 meter on DIN rail in the distribution board, with three 63A clamps on the phase conductors.
3Sonoff MINI-1GSP relay with metering, on the line of a circuit you want to track, in the consumer unit or in a junction box. Three in the kit.

How to install it

Home Assistant Green. Home Assistant Green connects to the router with the network cable and is powered by the supply in the box. From a computer or from the Home Assistant app you open the initial setup page, create the user and choose the location. Shelly and Sonoff devices join the home Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz: check the coverage near the consumer unit.
Meter in the board. The Shelly Pro 3EM-3CT63 mounts on the DIN rail in the kit's 8-module enclosure (3 modules plus spare ways) and is powered to the manufacturer's diagram. The three 63A clamps clip onto the phase conductors downstream of the meter, each on its own phase and in the direction indicated. The 230V connections in the consumer unit must be made by qualified personnel with the system isolated.
Relays and wiring. The three MINI-1GSP are fitted on the lines of the circuits to be measured, downstream of their MCBs, in the consumer unit or in junction boxes, within the maximum current stated by the manufacturer. The kit includes the 8-module enclosure, the ferrules for stranded conductors and the Wago lever connectors for wiring the modules.
App and pairing. Set up the Pro 3EM in the Shelly app and the MINI-1GSP units following the manufacturer's procedure, then add them to Home Assistant: Shelly has an official local integration, and the Sonoff relays are added over Matter or with the available integration. In the Energy dashboard, set the Pro 3EM as grid consumption and the three relays as individual devices.
Recommended automations. Set up an automation that switches off the least important circuit when total power gets close to your contracted limit and switches it back on after a few minutes. Add a notification in the Home Assistant app for peaks. After a few weeks the Energy dashboard shows you which circuits weigh most on your bill.
Contents verified. The Shelly Pro 3EM-3CT63 has an official local integration in Home Assistant and the Sonoff MINI-1GSP units are added to Home Assistant Green, which becomes the single dashboard for all the readings. The kit includes the 8-module enclosure (3 DIN modules for the meter plus spare ways), the ferrules for wiring in the consumer unit and the Wago connectors for the module joints.

Before you order

Do you need a hub?

Yes, and it is included: Home Assistant Green collects the Shelly and Sonoff readings and runs the Energy dashboard and the automations. The Shelly and Sonoff devices connect to the home Wi-Fi, Home Assistant Green to the router by cable.

Does it work with Alexa, Google or Apple?

The energy dashboard is used from Home Assistant, in a browser or in the app. Home Assistant can expose devices to other assistants through its integrations, and Shelly and Sonoff have their own apps as well. For the kit's metering and automations it is best to stay in Home Assistant.

Do you need an electrician?

Yes. The Pro 3EM-3CT63 and the MINI-1GSP relays are wired to the 230V line in the consumer unit or in the back boxes: the work must be done by qualified personnel with the system isolated. Setting up Home Assistant you can do yourself.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Almost nothing changes: Home Assistant Green works locally, so the readings, the Energy dashboard and the automations carry on over the home network. Without internet you cannot get in from outside and you receive no push notifications on your phone until the line is back.

Is a subscription needed?

No. Home Assistant runs locally with no subscription. There is an optional paid service for easier remote access, but it is not needed to use the kit. The Shelly and eWeLink apps are also free of charge for the functions the kit uses.

Can I add more circuits?

Yes. You can add more metering relays, smart plugs and the solar inverter's data, if Home Assistant supports it. The Energy dashboard brings them together. Write to us from the contacts section for a custom kit.

Do I need to buy any batteries?

No. Every device in the kit is mains-powered and Home Assistant Green comes with its own power supply in the box. So there are no spares to keep at home and no charge levels to watch: during a power cut the devices stop and start up again by themselves when it comes back.

What if a product is out of stock on Amazon?

It happens, especially with multipacks and newly released products. Write to us from the contacts section with the kit code and the product you can't find: we'll point you to an alternative that fits the rest of the kit, so it keeps working as described.

Why buy on Amazon?

We put the kit together and tested it ourselves, picking the parts and checking that they work together. Purchase, payment, returns and warranty are handled by Amazon: delivery times, returns and warranty are shown on Amazon at the time of purchase, item by item.
